The amphitheatre is carved right into the soft stone in the side of the hill just outside the city walls. You can walk from the town center though there is parking in front of the ruins, just watch out for all the cats. Arrived in Rome late pm and didn't want to stay at an airport hotel. Roughly 32 miles out of Rome is this wonderful 4 star hotel. The Borgo di Sutri is a wonderful four-star hotel on the outskirts of the Etruscan-Mediaeval village of Sutri in southern Viterbo province.
