Stayed overnight for dinner Bed & breakfast, with Champagne &Truffles on arrival. Staff very friendly. Food in The Orangery superb for Dinner although for breakfast, food was ok but not warm enough for me. Rooms, although spotless, could do with a makeover. Has nice touches. Heavy snow during night was cleared from our cars before we left by the staff.... more

Having stayed at the Balbirnie a year ago my expectations were high, but unfortunately this time I was a little disappointed. The building itself is grand, but the room I was allocated seemed in need of a little TLC. The bathroom looked tired with some lightbulbs not working, and there was evidence of a leak from above (water runs, damp... more

We only stayed here one night and would rate it as a good clean hotel at very reasonable rates. Nice size room and en suite. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to help. The only slight reservations would be that the Manager seemed over keen to talk too much with the customers. His manner... more

I booked the hotel as I I needed to stay somewhere cheap in Glenrothes and the Premier Inn was the first name that popped into my head for cheap accommodation. However you get for what you pay for, the hotel is located next to the biggest roundabout in Glenrothes, the Bankhead roundabout, linking it from to/from motorways and dual carriage... more

I thoroughy enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Despite being part of a huge chain, the staff gave my stay the personal touch; the reception staff are friendly and the housekeeping staff extremely helpful. The hotel is rather quaint, in an excellent location within Glenrothes, I was staying for a wedding and it was very close to the where I... more

Overall a decent hotel and pretty good value for money. Rooms are the standard modular Holiday Inn Express so no surprises. Check in staff reasonably helpful. You get what you pay for and this is a good reliable value for money hotel. Breakfast is included and is pretty fair. Stay here rather than paying a lot more for some hotel... more

Just come back from a super wedding at the Balbirnie House, beautiful location and overall the wedding was great but front desk service was pretty awful at check-in. I was made to feel uncomfortable and like a second class citizen when my room was not ready. My room was okay, clean but pretty shabby and in need of a makeover.... more

A beautifully set hotel makes you feel you're in the middle of nowhere. A stately appearance inside and out, our room was also well positioned tp look over the gardens. The room was also grand with a four-poster bed, and a huge en-suite with a gorgeous tub. Booked as a package with DB&B, champagne and a deluxe room it costly,... more

The Oast House

Sep 13, 2008

The Oast House is classed as a restuarant on Trip Advisor but nothing could be further from the truth. It is quite simply a local pub that needs to be totally gutted and started from scratch. If stinking toilets, cliquey locals, hoards of smokers standing at the front doors and the local alcoholic are your idea of fun then this... more

Just want to say my partner and myself have stayed here a few times when on holiday in Scotland or just a weekend break. Have always found it clean, quiet and comfortable, its just a shame all the rooms are now non-smoking. Continental breakfast is included in the price & there is a really nice bar next door - 'The... more

Fantastic Hotel - Definitely Pet Friendly Staff helpful and very friendly, nothing too much bother. Had dinner in the Bistro, reasonably priced, when my husband could not find anything on the menu to suit him they where more that happy to mix and match to accommodate him. The bedroom was beautiful and spacious, the bed was huge and very comfortable,... more

My partner and I stayed at the Balbirnie House Hotel for two nights in early June and we also hosted a family dinner for 20 in the hotel’s private dining room. Our deluxe Room (No. 307) was large and on the top (3rd) floor; no lift available so the porter was obliged to carry our luggage all the way! The... more

Recently went to a Wedding Reception here and really enjoyed it. The place is spotless. Friendly staff. Nice reception room. The buffet was delicious. Outside area had tables and cover from the rain. The prices for drinks while not cheap weren't the most expensive I have encountered. Everything went without a hitch. Cannot comment on the rooms, but would think... more

I stayed here overnight for business. Although pricey I had an amazing room and the staff were wonderful. We were greeted with warmth and terrific service. Unfortunately the main restaurant was closed, so we ate in the bistro, which didn't have a great deal of choice but the food was very good. I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone and... more

Golden Acorn Wetherlodge

We booked this hotel on a 2 nights for the price of 1 deal, so the cost for 2 of us was £35 for 2 nights - unbelievable cheap. So we half expected the place to be a dive. In short, it wasn't, and represented amazing value for money. Hilton it ain't, and I've stayed in nicer Travelodges, but even... more

To say that you are welcomed would be a huge misunderstanding. They advertise that their dining isoff to a flying start and they ask are you ready!! McDonalds has better service, food and atmosphere compared to the Bistro at Balbirnie, where you are treated as a second if not third class citizen. I was given a voucher by friends who... more

Styed here overnight whilst at a conference. Staff very helpful & efficient. Room was spacious with all I could want (including access to internet via TV). Hotel ought to get duvets tho' - didn't sleep so great with sheets & blankets. Was very disappointed by food tho' despite it having won awards. If you like cooked breakfast then you'll be... more

Fantastic wedding venue - my sister married here last week and we had a fantastic time - i admit that the rooms are pretty inconsistent in size but that is reflected in the price and some of the rooms are really quirky and add to the overall feel of the hotel - the food in the orangery is amazing and... more

Stayed at this hotel recently and found it to be an excellent base for business around Glenrothes. Rooms were pretty spacious and comfortable. Bar was huge with comfy leather settees at the massive TV. Food was really tasty and I found the staff to be very friendly and most helpful. Worth a visit if needing to stay in the area... more
