Traveler Reviews on Annecy

Best Western International Annecy

3 of 5 stars
Gothenburg, Sweden
Nov 20, 2008

I've stayed at better hotels in Annecy (for example Allobroges Hotel), but it's absolutely okay. I didn't know if I was about to give it three or four stars, and I'd probably choose 3½ stars. I got what I payed for and I wasn't disappointed at all, because this is what a classic Best Western Hotel look like for me.... more

Okay, I'm not a native speaker, but I'll try it in English this time :-) Its my second stay in Alpha Hotel Annecy-Êpagny, unfortunetly I was here last year, too, but nothing turned for the better One of the travelers before me rated: "...very basic", I do not agree, I would say very poor! The rooms are small, poor furniture,... more

Hotel des Marquisats

Nov 5, 2008

Good location and good to be able to use internet in the room but I would not stay there ever again. The owner (?) of the hotel was very rude. In the evening when one goes out to have dinner, he forces you to leave the key in the hall, in unattended area as the reception has closed. So, his... more

Like a previous reviewer comments, this hotel does live up to its name and is fairly splendid. Arriving is a little difficult as the hotel is on a main road without any real pull in area. If you can handle your bags, you need to park at the Hotel de Ville car park & get a reduced parking ticket from... more

Hotel l'Abbaye

France
Oct 30, 2008

This is a much over rated hotel mostly over rated on the web site so presumably by the owners themselves. Once upon a time it must have been a pleasant place to be but now it's tired and shabby, its glory long gone. With some renovations and attention to the garden some of the old charm may be recaptured. Four... more

Le Bastille

Chipping Norton
Oct 18, 2008

La Bastille was the only restaurant I passed that had staff outside to greet the potential customer. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which was very important as I was there with my disabled mother. The food was excellent and comparably priced with similar restaurants in the old city of Annecy. Local dishes, local wines and, of course, Genepi! more

Hotel du Nord

We selected this hotel because we wanted a cheap hotel for an overnight stay on our way back from Italy to GB and the reviews on this site were pretty good! We were not disappointed in any way as the price was great, the staff helpful and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast good. On arrival,... more

Hotel des Marquisats

The hotel is about 5 mins drive out of Anncy just off the lakeside road. It is far enough out to be quiet but near enough to be able to walk into town. The owners/staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were allocated a room at the back which is built into the hillside but to our surprise we had... more

We have just returned from a holiday in Annecy, and we can honestly say that it has been a wonderful experience. We appreciated the wonderful scenery which was out of this world and the cleanliness of the whole area was second to none. We enjoyed wandering through the old town, and were amazed to find new little alley ways every... more

This hotel is beautifully located on the lake.... operates a casino whioch means that a good quarter of the rooms are over a very noisy area...two good restaurants rooms are clean and average quality decorated a la art deco, sort of, but the hotel is very overpriced...and beware if you have a train to catch it takes 20 minutes for... more

Allobroges Park Hotel

Sep 28, 2008

Great little hotel - room was impeccably clean. We stayed in the junior suite(cost us an extra 10-20 euros) as there were no doubles left but it was worth it for a huge room/bathroom Car park is pretty tight and finding the hotel isn't as easy as you would think. The one-way system is quite complex so print a map... more

The hotel was centrally situated and very clean and comfortable. Rooms are small but adequate for a few nghts stay. Breakfast is excellent value and the staff are all very helpful. more

Hotel du Palais de l'Isle

Sep 28, 2008

The hotel web site warned us it would be hard to find, and they were right. Even using our car's GPS system, we had trouble finding it once we got to the old town/city center. So we decided to just park and start walking. We went a couple blocks toward the canal, crossed one of the bridges and looked up... more

As others have stated, the Ibis had no frills and is a nice, basic hotel. It was clean, the staff friendly and the location for the old town was perfect. We would definitely stay again.. more

Stayed 4 nights here on holiday. Nice modern hotel near to centre of old town. Friendly staff. Easy walking distance of many bars and restuarants. Noisy at night because of this. Room was quite small, but adequate. Decor and fittings badly in need of renovation. Bedroom carpet and bathroom fittings rather shabby. Toilet bowl cracked. Everything worked OK though. No... more

Hotel du Nord

Sep 24, 2008

We stayed here in late August and loved it. Our room faced away from the street and looked over rooftops, so it was very quiet. The room appeared recently renovated and was clean, cool and well-priced. We considered other hotels with a view but came back to Hotel du Nord because of its proximity to the train station, the old... more

Hotel du Nord

The owner/manager of this hotel does not seem to like Brits and Americans. My advice to you is to find another hotel in Annecy. There are plenty of them. more

Camping La Ravoire

Sep 13, 2008

This was our third visit to this campsite and it was better than ever. The site could not be cleaner. The log cabins which are rented out are perfect. We used the shower block which is cleaned thoroughly every morning. There are visiting food sellers, pizza on monday, rotisserie chicken on wednesday and a giant tartiflette man on thursday. Food... more

We loved this hotel. Our "regular" room was rather spacious and had a great view over the lake, the setting is beautiful, the staff is helpful and the restaurant is very good. The waiters in the restaurant are somewhat "distinguished" but very friendly. There is no hotel swimming facility as - we were told - the founder of the hotel... more

Allobroges Park Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Bath, Somerset, UK
Sep 7, 2008

As commented on in some other reviews, there are a number of one-way streets in Annecy which makes getting to the hotel a little tricky. However, once there this was soon forgotten with a warm welcome (email correspondence with the hotel whilst booking was also prompt and friendly), a delightful room, tastefully decorated with ample storage space and a great... more
