Traveler Reviews on Siem Reap

Soria Moria Boutique Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Sydney
Sep 3, 2008

The hotel is centrally located in Siem Reap and it's a five minute walk to most of the restaurants and shops in town. The staff was gracious and kind. We had lovely conversations with the staff who were honest and kind, The room was big and clean, the air-condition and water heater were also working perfectly well. Its really one... more

If you've been to Cambodia during the summer, you know how hot is can get. We were greeted with cold towels and a delicious welcome drink. The front desk staff is knowledgeable, very friendly and accommodating. There is a fantastic pool which is a great way to spend any afternoon after visiting temples. The rooms are large and very clean.... more

Peace Of Angkor Villa

Sep 2, 2008

This review is long over due! In January of 2006, I spent three nights/four days exploring Siem Reap, Cambodia and had a wonderful time. I was on a shoe string budget and a solo traveler, but for $25 a night I was treated like a queen. My trip to Cambodia was a side excursion from my main trip to Thailand.... more

Amatao Tropical Residence

We just spent a fabulous 3 nights at this beautiful property... We have worked in the Travel Industry for the past 10 years and us lucky enough to have experienced many high end properties. We can truly say that this is the best we have ever stayed at. Everything from check in to check out was absolutely flawless. The Ambassador... more

Bou Savy Guesthouse

Sep 2, 2008

We had an enjoyable stay at Bou Savvy. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with fridge, TV and air-con. Our private bathroom was very small and quite skanky though – probably one of the least pleasant that we had to use during our trip around SE Asia. The communal areas are very nice and have an almost colonial feel. As... more

Angkor Night Market

Sep 1, 2008

Night markets are not a natural thing in Siem Reap we read and was told. This was created for the tourist in mind. The night market has a bar, a small cineplex and of course, a collection of stalls selling souveniers, local tid-bits, etc. What is missing are local food stalls - something of which gives night markets a local... more

Preah Khan

Sep 1, 2008

As stated in previous reviews, here you can escape the crowds. I don't know why not many people visit as it is no further than most of the other temples within or around the Angkor Thom vicinity. Perhaps, as we were told by our guide, the more 'famous' Ta Phrom (or 'Tomb Raider' temple) is similar i.e. overgrown trees engulfing... more

If anybody is thinking of doing this then i strongly recomend you go for it. The staff are excellent and very professional and friendly and do their very best to make sure you have a great time. My instructer Sobey could not have been better and was great fun and told me loads about Cambodia. When i go back to... more

Sofitel Phokeethra Royal Angkor Golf & Spa Resort

This is a really great hotel. A real 5 stars hotel. The service was amazing during our whole stay. Only as an example of the unbelievable service, they received my wife with a dozen of fresh red roses and a cold drink while we were doing the check-in. The location is like 3 kilometers away from the town center (around... more

Mysteres d'Angkor Lodge

Aug 31, 2008

We stayed two days at Mystères d'Angkor, after having spent some time in another nearby hotel who was also advertised as a little "auberge de charme" -- but was not quite in our opinion. The tag ("charming lodge") was far more appropriate for Mystères d'Angkor, a very comfortable, friendly, calm and beautiful place to stay in Siem Reap. (One problem,... more

La Noria Hotel

Aug 31, 2008

We stayed five days at La Noria in August 2008, following advice from travel guides and websites which insisted in this place being a charming little gem. We found some elements of charm indeed (e.g. nice pool, although a bit small), but we were quite disappointed on the overall. The room was nicely furnished, but cramped. The AC was old... more

We stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days. The room was a little small, but it was clean and very cheap. We only paid 15 usd a night and it even had its own bathroom. We got the complimentary drinks when we arrived but we did not take advantage of the cambodian massage. The hotel restaurant had satisfactory food;... more

Stayed at this guest house at the end of August and had a really good stay. Location is reasonably central with tuk tuks readily available outside the front of the guest house. Rooms were spacious and immaculately clean, and all staff were extremely friendly. A nice range of food and drinks available in the restaurant and a guest only balcony... more

City River Hotel

Aug 31, 2008

Excellent hotel and good value. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and well maintained. The breakfast was somewhat lackluster, but certainly adequate...and plenty to get your day started. The location is great- a short walk to the tourist market, a hop away from the temples and directly in front of the river. I would definitely go... more

My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Room: Clean, approx 20 m² (bathroom included), hot water. It's a minimum but I was just was we need. We were disappointed because one day, 2 blocks away there were a funeral ceremony, there were loud music from 7am to 6pm! Staff: Really nice staff: helpful and really friendly. But... more

I have stayed at Soria Moria several times in 2008. It is such a nice place to be with friendly staff who will do all they can to help you and give you a nice experience. The rooms are spacious and clean and have a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. I sleep like a baby when I am staying at Soria... more

Sofitel Phokeethra Royal Angkor Golf & Spa Resort

Aug 30, 2008

It's hard to descibe the feeling of coming 'home' to such luxury in such an incredibly poor town, but the Sofitel really was gorgeous! The rooms are spread out across huge gardens and overlook a beautiful, serene lake. Decorated in heritage style, our deluxe room was spacious, incredibly clean and absolutely beautiful - with an ultra comfy king-sized bed! Loved... more

Tara Angkor Hotel

Aug 30, 2008

I stayed at this hotel based on the recommendations of a friend. It was certainly a nice hotel but nothing outstanding. However, considering that I was able to stay there for $40/night through expedia, I can't really complain about anything. more

Banteay Samre

Did this Angkor Wat era temple on the way to Bantei Srei on the two occasions I was in Siem Reap. On both times, pictures of this temple soemhow turned out to be among the best. It is a slight walk in from the main road and is walled, with the main temple inside in quite a good state. The... more
