Quite a distant to walk to lodge. Looks very old outside. Comfortable inside. It was raining heavily next day. Owner lent us umbrellas. Also when we were ready to leave for the station , we phone owner + she brought our bags to the visitor information desk @ Nikko in exchange for the umbrellas . That was a very nice... more

If you're going to Japan and want to experience onsen (Japanese traditional hot spring) for the first (and possibly only time), I think this might be a good place. This is an old and very large ryokan with supposedly lots of history. Its location can't be more appropriate for an ultimate onsen experience... deep in the mountain on the back... more

We spent 3 lovely nights at the Nikko Cottage Inn FHU-SHA and highly recommend it for a memorable stay in Japan.
