Hello, I just returned from a fantastic trip to Peru. Among other things, we stayed overnight in Huacachina (Ica) in Hotel Mossone. The hotel is located in the beautiful lagoon (oasis) close to the town of Ica. Originally we were supposed to stay in Las Dunas, but because if was fully booked we were offered Hotel Mossone. As I said... more

This is a very attractive and affordable hotel with breakfast included, a good looking pool and access to the dunes, buggy riding and much more. However, it also has very noisy birds and the desayuno wasn't that great. Overall this place is very cool. The main issue was this blue parrot/macaw that just yelled like a 4 yr old getting... more

Fantastic spot. Right at the base of the dunes. Spent 3 nights (120 /s for a triple) Best place in a five week trip. Am heading back for 3 MORE nights after visiting Nazca. Exceptionally clean rooms - attentive staff, nice pool, good food - truly an oasis in the area - and reasonable prices!!!!! more

The hotels and restaurants of Huachachina form a horseshoe around the lagoon at the center of the desert oasis. And at the horseshoe's apex you'll find the Hotel Mossone. I guess this is only right as the Massone is the priciest and biggest of Huachachina's hotels. It has a plaza within its walls, spacious rooms, an expensive but certainly adequate... more

This hotel is in Huacachina not Ica. Rooms were pleasant. Breakfast was ok. View over the oasis was lovely. Very expensive for what you get. Place could do with a face lift and a lick of paint. Staff at breakfast were not the happiest bunch, neither were the reception desk staff. The bar staff were friendly though. more

This property is a tranquil escape from the hectic Peruvian pace of life. It is by far the best property in Huacachina where it is based, although it is indeed significantly more expensive. The food was poor but the location and property more than make up for it. It directly overlooks the lagoon. It has a beautiful bar which also... more

We stayed in a very nice, clean double with private bathroom for $30 ($15/pp). The bathroom was very nice and the water was warm, if not hot. The hotel has a nice pool area with bar and a covered area with tables and a tv. We ate lunch there and it was quite tasty and obscenely cheap. We also arranged... more

Unfortunately, I spent only one night in this Hotel in Huacachina. If I had had more time, it would have definitely been more. The rooms are clean and have warm water 24h. The hotel has a swimming pool, pool bar, hammocks and talking parrots. Continental breakfast was included in the room rates. They also organise sandbuggy and sandboarding tours. You... more

First, the hotel is not affected by the earth quake of August 2007. It is an old fashioned nice hotel in the middle of the very quite and beautiful Huacachina Oasis. Food is okay, the rooms are a little bit overpriced. At the moment, there are very few tourists around (because of the last earth quake), but this location is... more

the Huacachina Oasis/Lagoon is a very nice, small and quite location, very close to Ica in the middle of the sand desert. It is secure and has some hotels, souvenir shops and restaurants. I was there in December 2007, fortunately the oasis is not affected by the last hard earth quake in August 2007. Sandboarding and buggy driving are very... more

I was recently in Ica on a medical mission and our group stayed at the Hosteria Suiza in Huacachina. As others had made the arrangements, I didn't have any preconcieved notions of the place, and I was please with it. It is not an expensive place, and thus it was furnished simply, without luxuries or frills. However it was comfortable... more

This isn't one of those backpacker hostels that will keep you up all night with parties--unlike the other places in Huacachina. Clean, neat, it's secluded at one end of the oasis, with a nice pool and lounging/garden area. Fronting on the oasis and backing on the dune, a beautiful spot. Our room was quite large and comfortable, albeit a bit... more

Hi We booked into Hosteria Suiza after reading the (only) reviews on Trip Advisor. Our room was small and dated. The hotel is dated and fuddy. The only nice thing about it is the tables outside where one has breakfast. We intended to stay 3 nights but after the breakfast insult...pre-packaged dried toast and 4 thin slices of dried cheese... more

We stayed at the Hosteria Suiza hoping for some comfort and quiet, and definitely found it. The hotel was lovely, clean, comfortable. We spent a lot of time by the poolside relaxing and reading. True about what another writer said--pity the hotel doesn't have a restaurant. Breakfast was nice between 7 and 10. We had a tour very early one... more

This place was a breath of fresh air after the suffering in Puno due to altitude sickness. The hotel is imaculate and tranquille. Pity they don´t have a restaurant, they could break the bank!! Great pool, best beds yet, simple continental breakfast. Go the to Banana Bar to reserve buggies to the dunes. Skip Avinoam´s, service is slow and food... more

We stayed at Hosteria Suiza in March of 2006. The rooms are clean, hot water terrific, and the grounds are fantastic. We spent a few days just reading books poolside. The manager, Felipe, could not have been more helpful. more

Worth a stay just because of the location. Peaceful location on oasis lagoon. Bathrooms a bit small and restaurant service slow. Also customer service could be improved a bit. When we asked if we could eat at a bar table instead of the more upscale restaurant we were told no. We moved to the restaurant and waited hours for dinner... more

Best Hotel in the area. Great reccommendation from the staff to go on a Dune Buggy and Sand boarding trip. The Pool and restaurant were clean and well maintained. the courtyard and the lake is beautiful and relaxing. There are free bicycles available. THe hotel is surrounded by massive sand dunes, if you don't know Peru has a huge desert... more

I spent two nights in the Hotel Mossone in March and loved it. It is lovely hotel, with a beautiful courtyard, attractive pool area and nice woodwork inside. Definitely a peaceful oasis, with many nice spots to sit and write, including tables and rockers in front of the rooms. Amenities included air conditioning (not necessary, but nice), great water pressure... more
