I recently experienced Dolphin Encounters at Blue Lagoon Island. I paid extra for the "Swim" experience... it was worth every dollar! At first I was going to do the Dolphin Cay at Atlantis, but this is $30 less and includes a 20 minute boat ride to another island (all together about a 3 hr experience). WOW! We did the dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon Island as part of our trip to Nassau (Cable Beach). I highly recommend this excursion. The dolphins are amazing and interacting with them is something you will never forget. Do the swim. It is a little more expensive but the "foot push" across the pool is awesome. Blue lagoon island and the dophin encounters program there was one of the excursions offered to us by our tour operaters. Swimming with dolphins is a once in a lifetime experience and so despite the hefty price we opted for the encounter which involves standing waist deep in water with interactions such as feeding, kissing, petting and hugging the dolphin.... more

If you want to swim with dolphins (not just pet in water) make sure to book this excursion seperately from any cruise excursions. My 10 yr old daughter & I did the Dolphin Encounter at Blue Lagoon Island July 5, 2007. We booked the excursion several months in advance. We took the 1:30 ferry and returned at 4:30. This island is beautiful and the dolphin encounter was excellent. We came first 8 years ago and stayed on the island all day after the encounter. They had a bar and grill, entertainment, floats, snorkeling/gear, parasailing and gifts shops. We were just there in April '07 and it is still the same beautiful beach but has been closed a while.... more
