After a week in Vancouver, I've learned that you don't get what you pay for - not in this city. Some of the best things that BC has to offer is free and this is one of them. Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge is simply spectacular. Don't expect to buy popcorn, hot dogs or a fountain pop here. In fact, I... more

We went to Capilano and Lynn canyon. Neither were overly impressive to us, but they were both nice. Capilano is more touristy, but the bridge is twice as long and 1.5 times as high. If you have a fear of heights, Lynn Canyon is by far less severe. The nature is beautiful, and there are some nice trails you can... more

Since we were travelling on a budget, my fiance and I decided to check out Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge instead of Capilano. Lynn Canyon is free and Capilano costs almost $30 per person. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Lynn Canyon - the park itself is gorgeous with lots of walking trails through the lush forests. The suspension bridge is... more

Lynn Canyon is a wonderful alternative to Capilano Suspension Bridge. Not only is it less crowded, but it is FREE! The suspension bridge is not as long or high as Capilano but you can hardly tell and is well worth skipping Capilano. The area has beautiful hikes with tall trees, waterfalls and a free flowing river that you hike down... more

Because we were warned how expensive Capilano is in Vancouver, we opted to hike Lynn Canyon instead, an absolutely free hike (including free parking) that also includes a suspension bridge, only 15 minutes east of Capilano. There is also a free ecology museum (with interactive activities for kids) to tour once you're finished hiking, along with the expected gift shop.... more

We didn't go to the Calipano bridge so I can't make a direct comparison, but I really enjoyed Lynn Canyon Park. First, it's not well advertised so there weren't many tourists there. We could enjoy the bridge without people pushing/shoving/being rude. Also, the other scenery is gorgeous. Definitely worth spending a couple hours there just wandering around. more

We were able to take public transportation pretty close to the park, then walk the remaining half mile or so. The suspension bridge was really cool, though it made me feel just a little sea sick. The views from it were wonderful, be sure to turn around to look at the waterfall if you can. We hiked over to 30... more

A beautful hike through the Doulas firs. After days stuck in offices and conference halls it was wonderful to get outdoors -- even in borrowed hiking boots. The trail wound through the pine forest, past the Lynn river and some spectacular scenery. The threatened rain held off and sun came out on rushing water and snow patches. We came back... more

I visit Lynn Canyon frequently, year round. It's a prime example of a temperate rainforest, with all sorts of odd fungi and ferns and mosses growing beneath towering second-growth cedar and hemlock trees. Watch for the banana-slugs! In summer the park is packed with tourists but once you know your way around there are plenty of quieter swimming pools downstream... more

The suspension bridge was fun! Pretty crowded during the summer though. The hike had tons of folks on it. more
