My sister and I chose the Eagle and Child based upon the recommendation of a friend who lived in Oxford. We were not disappointed! It was a rainy, miserable night when we stopped in there to eat. We opted for the Eagle and Child on the basis of its recommendation in The Good Pub Guide. The pub is very cosy and there's an airy conservatory at the back with additional seating. Long thin pub supplying many beers and food. A light conservatory at the back with open garden in the summer. Tolkein quaffed many a stella here. more
