This is a lovely little gallery with helpful staff. The fact that it doesn't house a huge collection is used to its advantage, as it means the gems are even more prominent and you can see them all in as little as an hour or so. The National Gallery is a small art museum with impressive works on display. Iconic "Rev'd Robert Walker Skating on Duddingston Loch" alongside Monet, Degas, Seurat, Van Gogh, Gaugin - WOW! more

I was stunned as soon as we walked through the door. This is a beautiful building with an amazing art collection. This is a must see for art enthusiasts of the medieval through Renaissance through Impressionist eras. I wish we had been able to spend more time there. The collection was larger than I anticipated. The National Gallery of Scotland is a wonderful museum that receives far less international attention than it deserves. They've got a marvelous collection of Scottish and European works. Everything is well labeled and the museum is just the right size to make for a satisfying walk-through. Best of all the restaurant is terrific . more
