I was told about this tour of bones, but was still quite amazed to see it. It is wierd, freaky but very interesting. You won't see anything like this anywhere. I highly recommend taking this tour of bones. I will be in Paris again in February on an antiquing trip with http://www.EuropeAntiqueTrip.com I'm trying to get some of the group... more

This is one of the most interesting attractions in Paris - completely differnet from the rest. I would suggest you wear closed in shoes and if possible bring a flash light (it's not very brightly lit so flashlight would have been helpful but you will get by without one) Other people might tell you that if you are claustraphobic this... more

Before you go do a little backgroung research on the net, the history and facts are fascinating. The entrance is very easily missed and gives no clue to what lies beneath your feet. It becomes noticebly colder as you descend and you walk for what seems miles through dimly lit, cold, damp tunnels. Then suddenly you a faced with an... more

Went to the Catacombs at the end of June. First tip - go around lunch. The day before we got to the Catacombs at 4pm. It closes at 6pm and security was letting everyone in line know that they wouldn't make it thru in time. We went back the next day, saw a shorter line, went to lunch, then found... more

I was fortunate enough to qualify for a "young" persons discount. I'm 26 and it cost me 3.50 euros! Well worth going. A long walk through dark underground tunnels until you reach the entrance to the catacombs. Lit by electric now, but you can't help thinking how eery it must have been in the days before electricity!!! more

This was at the top of things to see in Paris and so I was very disappointed to discover that it has closed. None of the tourist I looked at warned about this and even when I turned up there it said that they would be open in March (which was when I visited). This may just be the French... more

It's hard to imagine when you're down in the catacombs that this is just the smallest slice of the old quarry tunnels that spider below Paris. There are very few words that can describe seeing walls made of skulls and thigh bones. It's equally hard to imagine the amount of human remains that you walk past, let alone the ones... more

I learned about the Catacombs after watching a show about it on the Travel Channel. It was easy to find from the street level and easy to navigate, considering you're several feet under the city. The bones are simply piled up. They are available to touch if you're not squeamish about such things. I would go back if I have... more

It is a bit creepy to see real human remains stacked up and arranged in such a way and to be that close to them. Pretty much the entire walk is all just bones as you can see in people's photographs. There isn't anything more or interesting than that. You can't take flash photos in there even though once past... more
