I went to the museum on the 20th May 2008. I was very dissapointed. Granted the museum houses some fantastic artwork. but the museum wasnt huge and it took only an hour, some of the works at the beginning of the museum seemed to be 'filling space' and overall i wasnt that impressed. The museum is currently under construction so... more

We visited the Rijksmuseum on Friday, 3/21/08 and throughly enjoyed it. There was a line but we didn't have to wait too long(we went about 130pm). Note: if you have a baby in a stroller, they will let you up to the front of the line! We were simply awestruck by the artwork....all of it, not just Rembrandt but what... more

Arriving at the site deserves a special reflection, as it is one of the most beautiful buildings in town. It contrasts with the new wave of modern buildings that shelter works of art by it's old architectural style, but nevertheless colossal and amazing. The gardens surrounding the venue were very beautiful and cared for and the staff was very friendly.... more

A life-changing experience. To see Rembrandt's use of light in person is amazing. And to think he did that hundreds of years before the invention of incandescent light. more

Even though there is a lot of construction going on at the museum it doesn’t interferr with the experience. We spend 2 hours here and we were quite impressed, worth the 10 euros entrance fee. more

I'm sure when it's completely open this place would be amazing but it's extremely limited right now (April 2007). Only one wing, but they did keep some of the most important pieces on display. I've been to much better museums. more

With only one open wing, the exhibits are small. There is more to see than paintings including weaponry and foreign art. There are lots of Rembrandts and Vermeers. It is expensive at 10 Euro. For a first time visit to Amsterdam it should not be missed, but regular visitors might wait until the renovations are completed. The audioguide is not... more

If you love art, don't miss Rijksmuseum. Especially if you appreciate Rembrandt. Even if you don't go inside, the building and grounds are interesting. more

I visited both the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum and was a little disappointed - not as good as I expected or as good as other art museums I have been too. A little overpriced for what you get and they both get extremely crowded. While it is always lovely to see beautiful art, these museums were overpriced and underdelivered.... more
