I love the grand place (marktplaats). It is just a great thing to look at, and you feel as if you have traveled back in time because nothing is modern. Very beautiful square with amazing gothic buildings. Very worth a look, and has a huge amount of choc shops around it too! more

The Grand Place is easily one of my favorite places to bring travellers to.... I've been living here now for two years and this is the spot to start your Brussels touring. The Grand Place should definately be on your list of places to see. Make the wonderful historic buildings that line the square the reason to visit but it also features a large selection of bars and restaurants and the side streets full of the same plus many tacky gift shops and perhaps average chocolatiers. I have been there several times also in winter time and summer time. It's simple beautiful in the winetrtime but in the summer time it's fantastic. I felt myself to be at a rock concert because couldnt cross the crowd . It's crowded by young people. If you dont find place to sit at the cafes round the Grand-Place dont... more
St. Peter's, St. Mark's, Trafalgar are all magical in their way. So is the Grand Place. It's the best single place to get a feeling of "Old Europe". Always filled with people, but you can usually get a table at one of the outdoor cafes and have some of the best beer on earth while gazing at 300 year old... more
