We were on a cruise and had just toured Ephesus. This was nothing in comparison. We were on a cruise tour and there were absolutely tons of people. There was a steady stream of people climbing the hill. There were thousands of people at the attraction. Too busy for my taste. And it was hot. In retrospect we would have... more

This is the main attraction in Athens. You can see it from a distance. The climb wasn't that bad. We started from the Ancient Agora and walked our way up. The view is beautiful! Try to get there in the early morning, since the sun is very hot during the day. There's not a lot of shades on the way... more

If you see one place in Athens, this should be it. When we got off the metro at Monasterion (Monasteraki) stop, we were turning around trying to get our bearings, when I chanced to look up in the sky. And there it was: the Acropolis. Gee whiz, that thing is high! You can’t miss it. Since we passed by the... more

I and 3 friends, all in our 60s, visited the Acropolis as part of a Globus t our in early April. Our excellent guide stopped several times on the way up to give information and allow folks to catch their breath. A few members of the group were still unable to make the climb, though 3 80-year-olds in good shape... more

The best landmark in Athens, must see. Fairly difficult to find the pathway if you are not familiar with it. We made the mistake of buying a drink to take up, but they will not let you through with it. Its not too bad of a walk despite it being on a huge hill, but when you get to the... more

I visited the Acropolis quite a few times during the months I lived in Athens. The Acropolis was the focal point of the city in Ancient Greece and it is the main attraction today. It is a site to behold with its massive Doric columns around the outside of the Parthenon. The Erectheon with the beautiful Caryatids as columns was... more

We just returned from a trip to Greece and went to see the Acropolis. To me, it was amazing but it was also very hot. We forgot our water but the ticket woman told us that we could buy water once we entered. We never found anywhere to get drinks until after we had climbed to the top and back... more

The Acropolis is definitely a must-see...it is for sure the symbol of Athens. It was one of the highlights of my trip to Greece! The walk up to see the Parthenon is a hike. I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes with non-slip soles as some of the walk is over marble that is very slippery! Beautiful views from the top... more

You can't go to Athens, without visiting the Acropolis. Start from the street level, by look at the imposing structure of the Acropolis. Then its a steep hill, to reach the entrance, but at the end is well rewording. You have the remains of 2 temples and a small museum, apart from a great view of the city of Athens.... more
