Based on a recommendation from a local Athens professional tour guide we found our way to the Jewish Museum in Central Athens. Housed in a plan buiding in the Plaka section of Athens we were so impressed by what we found in the museum. I would just like to add a couple things to the previous review. Along with this being a gem of a museum, as the previous poster mentioned, it is also quite convenient to travelers - it's just a few short blocks from the main Plaka District. This is a fascinating little museum about the decimated Jewish communities of Greece. Apparently there were very large Jewish communities in Greece that went back to ancient times. 95% of the Jewish population was killed in the Holocaust so now there are hardly any Greek Jews left in Greece. Hitler succeeded in Greece of relegating the Jews to a museum.... more
