What a great place this is!! It exceeded our expectations. THe people working there are very informative and incredibly helpful. THe animals are great and you get to be right up close. THe aquarium inside is definately worth a visit--where else do you get to walk into a ring-tailed lemur cage?? We had the Stockholm card for the day and... more

One thing I found was that the views from Skansen are unbelievable! Great views of Sodermalm, and the City. Go around sunset if you don't have much time and just see the views! more

Skansen is a very nice experience for both adults and children. Typical scandinavian animals, finnish farm homes, church and typical swedish home from the past centuries give very good overview of the "old" Sweden. More places where we could have some cold drinks and snacks would be good. more

Just visited in April 2007 and it was very nice. My only problem is that even though we had unseasonably warm weather the town wasn't really operational. If you really want to see how Sweden was in the old days you should visit in the summer when everyone is in traditional dress and performing. I did enjoy just walking around... more

Skansen is a full day affair. Pack your walking shoes because there is alot to see and there are plenty of hills on the way. Like most places it was best to get here early before the hordes descend to take in the ambience. There are a number of precincts to the museum. The old town precinct is the logical... more

Never thought we would have such fun at a small zoo with teenagers. You actually walk through one of the enclosures with ring tailed lemurs running and jumping around you. All of the animal areas are decorated with imagination. Make sure you get the Stockholm Card before entering Skansen (buy it at Stockholm House or at the Central Station) because... more

I have to say, you get your money's worth and more when you visit Skansen. This is an amazing open air folk museum situated on top of a hill in the heart of Djurgarden. If you enter from the main entrance there is a escalator the takes you up to the grounds. You can also walk up if you would... more

Our New Years Day visit to Skansen was perfect. It was resonably quiet, just a few families pulling kiddies along on their sledges. The snow made viewing the buildings and the animals just perfect. Shame the bears were asleep in their cosy caves. The little piggies were really cute. Rudolf and his friends were there but they were resting in... more

This year was my second trip to Stockholm and technically my second visit to Skansen. Lat year I was on a land tour and opted for an optional tour to Skansen but the problem was we were there no more than an hour. This year we took a cruise and when we ported in Stockholm, went off on our own... more

If you are going to visit Stockholm, you must visit the Skansen open-air museum. It is absolutely fascinating to not only see, but to go inside of all of the historical buildings they have there, from farm houses to churches to shops to manor houses. There are shops where you can watch glass blowing and other early crafts (and of... more
