Salzburg Fortress or Hohensalzburg is a must see if one is in Salzburg. It is impossible not to see or notice this magnificent structure since it is located on top of a hill with a commanding view of Salzburg. We took the funicular to get up to the fortress. Loved it! The fortress itself has an excellent museum about the history of the building and Salzburg itself. There are also amazing views of the city and the Alps. If you don't want to hike up, you can take the funicular up from the old city. It costs about €7 to get in (€10 with the funicular), but if you... more

Salzburg is a wonderful, picturesque Austrian city featuring the Salzburg Fortress atop a hill which can be visited via an incline. While visiting Europe, this was one of many stops, but it stands out in my memory as a very great experience. more

wow big wow a great place to ramble about you can eat up there too lunch or a fancy meal its worth it just for the view which is truly world class go to it and enjoy! more
