Tourist trap. The most exciting thing about the park is the castle and that is not saying much. The 'Folk Park' is a joke and almost everyone we encountered ignored most of it when you realize the farce it is. The castle itself is okay, but no pics with flash, even though there is no lighting, and it is pretty... more

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is kinda neat, but a but pricey at 15 Euro each. As for the castle, it makes absolutely no sense unless you have a guide! If there is a favored route through it, there are no signs to tell you what it is, and the map they provide is not easy to interpret. Most of... more

We decided to try Bunratty castle & folk park during our week in this part of Ireland . In our minds it was thought it might be a bit "touristy" but in fact we found it a great day out . The attraction is well signposted and easy to find with plenty of car parking with other shops and eating... more

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park are so close to Shannon airport that they are probably on the itinerary of every traveler to western Ireland. As it should be. The castle has been painstakingly restored to it's 16th century glory and you can self tour in practically every room. Including the uppermost battlements. If you have questions a guide will be... more

I was expecting a bit more from the Food side of things, way too expensive. Bunratty is also hard to get to from Limerick if you don't have a Car. The Castle was nice through and Ireland was great. I would go to Killarney instead and spend a long time there. I went for a walk down to Ross Castle(dark... more

We spent a great day at the folk park. Everything about it was very enjoyable. The highlight was the dinner in the castle. The entertainment was well done. The food was very good and more than one should / could eat. the dinner is a "must do" if you are visiting the Shannon / Bunratty area. more

Very cool! The great hall is amazing; the ceiling is thirty to forty feet high. Go easy on the mead, or you’ll forget the whole night (honey wine from which the term honeymoon is derived). The dinner was good with huge portions and free-flowing wine. The after–meal entertainment was nice, and added to the medieval experience. They sang for almost... more

We (parents and two children aged 8 and 4) visited the Castle and Folk Park on a rather cold and wet Saturday morning, April 2008. Dodging the showers, we first explored the folk park which has a variety of reconstructed homes and shops mostly dating from the 19th Century: among them a "byre" dwelling where people and animals lived under... more

I visited Bunratty Castle in March 2008. This visit was part of the Taste of Ireland Tour by CIE so the 50 euros the banquet costs was included in the package's price. It was an excellent evening where everyone just wanted to have fun. Like other reviewers we were served vegetable soup, spare ribs, chicken with vegetables and a strawberry... more

This is my favorite castle to visit in Ireland. I love the history behind it and the castle itself with it antiques collection from Spain, Germany and other places.. The folk park is quaint and charming. The thatched roof houses are a wonderful sight. The medieval banquet is entertaining and the food is great. Granted there are other castles not... more
