I've visited U Zlatého tygra a few times over the last couple of years. The first time I was absolutely bowled over by the quality of the Pilsner Urquell beer which is served here unpasteurised using using the superior tank system. U Zlatého tygra you are either a long-time regular or "just another [--] tourist". Better take tram or metro and head a bit away from the city centre. Try Smíchov (Metro: Anděl), Holešovice (Metro: Vltavská) or Žižkov (Metro: Jiřího z Poděbrad) and DON'T use your guidebook. Warning: real Prague pub is not nice at all, prepare for rude and often... more

Made two visits to this amazing place in February 2008. There is a fantastic atmosphere and the beer is good and very cheap. A must stop off in the middle of a day's sightseeing in Prague. more
