Although it is a bit of a walk from the nearest Metro stop, it is definitely well worth it. They were doing a bit of construction in the surrounding area. This seemed to be one of the more crowded attractions, but still did not detract from it. more

Reading the Gettysburg Address in the Shadow of this magnificient man, I couldn't help by soak in the moment. This monument is truly awe inspiring. One cannot escape the history, the meaning, and the significance of this memorial. And the view, incredible. Whether you are from a red state or a blue state, as you stare off the steps over... more
I took my first trip to Washington DC this year. I went out there with my family to visit my sister out at American University. For three days we packed all the historical sights you could think of into just a few days. The most beautiful one was the Lincoln Memorial. Once my family and I climbed up all of... more
Nothing short of a perfect memorial. Just go visit it, words can't do it justice. Take the kids, tell them about it and enjoy sitting on the steps. more
The Lincoln Memorial is a must see to many people. There are many interesting facts...which include: The mistake on the word "Future" (they carved euture, but colored in future) Rectangular (meaning died in office) ETC. There is also a diminutive gift shop at the Lincoln Memorial... and I won't say anything else since it WILL ruin your experience. more

It is the most beautiful view I saw during the trip to washington. It was easy to find parking a few blocks away from the monument. We didn't do a tour guide but there were plenty of them in the area. It was crowded therefore we didn't feel unsafe. Wonderful experience, my 7 year old boy loved it. more
I totally agree with the other posters...see the monuments at night..especially the Lincoln Memorial which is so beautiful when it is lit up. This past winter break, we were in DC just for 2 days (we don't live far and visit every other year or so) and chose to the monuments at night. If you want to cover all the... more
The Lincoln Memorial is lovely but what I absolutely loved was walking down to the Memorial stopping off at the humbling Vietnam and Korean War memorials (not to be missed) just before dusk, and sitting on the steps of the Linoln looking back down the Mall towards the Washington Monument as the sun goes down and the monuments light up.... more
You have to walk to the memorial. There is no parking. There is a great view down the mall toward the capitol but there is a lot of construction taking place everywhere. The worst sight was the algae buildup in the reflecting pool. The memorial is pretty impressive but it is even better at night. If you can get there... more
