Very impressive monument in DC. Located closeby to the Washignton Mounment at the start of the Reflecting Pool. The columns featuring all the states present during the time of WWII. Take note of the wall with all the stars (each representing 1000 soldiers that died during the war). more

It seems silly to praise this memorial as if someone would pan it. However, many go to D.C. intent on only seeing a handful of items and some worthy monuments get left out. It would be a shame is the WW II memorial was one of them. Its location along the mall and the large slabs of stone stand as... more

One of my favorite spots in DC. Nice to sit and listen to the water and enjoy the sun with your feet in the water. Great memorial and worth a stop. G Man more

Stunning Memorial. Have visited it a few times since it opened but recently visited in December, 2006 on a Wednesday afternoon. There was no one around so great for picture taking. Stunning memorial with all the water, fountains and dedications. Great location in between the Washington Monument and Lincoln Memorial. A must see. more

We visited the memorial at night after arriving in Washington, DC. and I was very impressed. The fountains and lights were beautiful. We passed by again during the day, but I would definitely recommend visiting this site at night if possible. more

My father fought in WW II, this memorial was very moving for me. I was shocked at the wave of emotions that hit me when I was standing at this memorial. Do not miss this memorial. more

This was on our must-see list for our three-day vacation. It was even more magnificent than the pictures I'd seen. Although some have said it takes away from the peacfulness and openness of the Mall, I think it only adds to the splendor that is DC. Is it big? Yes. Is it busy? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. Be... more

If you want to beat the summer heat in DC, see this monument at sunset. Beautiful detail and a moving memorial. You'll find that the fountains will be drained around the 4th of July to keep debris from the fireworks out of the system. These pictures were taken July 5th 2004. Even without the water, it's still a worthwhile visit. more

I know that it's not really the "done thing" to disrespect a monument, but I'd have to say that I really didn't care for it one bit. I guide US tour groups around the Normandy Landing Beaches and fully honour and respect the memory of those who served, but this monument stands in direct opposition to the quiet contemplation of... more

I visited this memorial on a night tour with the TourMobile bus. We had about 35 minutes to walk around the area , which consisted of large slabs of rock representing each state and territory, along with central pools and Atlantic and Pacific stones for each theater of war. All of the monoliths formed a circle. While other memorials exhibit... more
