We recently took a Na Pali Coast tour with Makana Charters and really had a fabulous time. The captain and crew were great, and made sure that everyone was able to see all the sights, which included dolphins and sea turtles. They shared a lot of local color and history. The small boat was wonderful, as we went into several... more

Just got back from Kauai where we went out on a boat with Captain Sundown. They used a smaller boat than some of the companies that cruise in monoliths with motors. What they considered "full" was still plenty roomy. The boat was well-maintained and our tour was beautiful. The staff was friendly and it was a family-run operation. It's a... more

We cruised by the Na Pali Coast on our cruise ship in September, and the views are breathtaking. It is amazing to see how the volcanos have created such a beautiful landscape. The cliffs and ridges are awesome. Kauai was by far my favorite island, it is very lush and tropical, and the islanders are the most friendliest there. We... more

Since we own a week of timeshare at The Cliffs Club in Princeville, we have been to Kauai about 6 times now. It's truly paradise! We prefer the north side of the island; it's so scenic and not quite as touristy as the south shore, but also more likely to have a short rain shower. Best time to travel is... more

The Na Pali Coast is BEAUTIFUL with a rich film history which is totally fascinating BUT there are only 2 ways to see it. 1. By helicopter - which if you get motion sick...might be the way for you. and 2. by boat. I prepared well. Didn't eat before hand, took my dramamine, didn't eat the food offered - snacked... more

There are no words to describe how beautiful the Na Pali coast really is. You have to see it for yourself. If you only have one day on Kauai, this is the place you must see. I hear it's great by helicopter, but I don't trust the touristy heli places. Plus, we're boat people and were looking forward to seeing... more

We decided sort of last minute to do a boat ride of the Na Pali coast the last day of our trip. Na Pali Riders had a catchy ad in the local tourist rags and indeed had a terrific price of $69 for the afternoon trip. The drive to Waimea is no problem. Check-in was easy though after checking in... more

We just did the Na Pali coast trip on Makana Charters out of Port Allen. Capt. Mike and Elliot did an AMAZING job. So informative and worked hard to make sure everyone had a GREAT time. The boat only holds 12 people which is nice as everyone get's to see everything. We got to see a huge pod of dolphins,... more

This trip was a great experience. Perhaps next time I'll take a booze cruise or something easy like that, but finishing this 17-mile kayaking trip is an achievement that few can claim, and I'm certainly glad to have done it. I think only 3 companies actually run the trip as of now, and not all go every day, so unlike... more
