We really enjoyed the museum, but also its deck overlooking Mira Flores lock. The running comentary on the deck answered most of our questions and was very interesting as we watched a couple of ships go completely through the lock. Kids will love the simulation piloting a ship through the canal on the top floor of the museum, too. The... more

If you are in Panama there is no way you can miss the Canal, because is interesting and because the rest of the city doesnt have much to offer. We went to the Miraflores Locks at a saturday morning, and bought the U$S 8 ticket that allows you to go into the museum and watch a little video about the... more

Please rate my review at the end. Thank you. Overview of site: There are different sets of locks in the Panama Canal. The Miraflores locks are the closest to Panama City. At the Miraflores locks you can see the locks in action lowering and raising ships from the view platforms, as well as you can visit the museum, and attend... more

The tour guide later told me that Thursday and Friday were also options but that was not on the website when I made the reservation. Here... more

Also took a railroad train across Panama to the town called Colon where we did a lot of shopping. I believe this port city gets a lot of tourists from... more

You can get here rather easily by cab ($6) or bus from Albrook (25 cents). The bus, I believe, drops you off at the entrance. This lock gives you a great idea of how the canal works. We were quite lucky to see about 10 ships go through in a 2 hour period. Sometimes, though you come up empty (so... more

Took a taxi from the Hotel Sheraton to Panama canal. $6 each way..good price. Price of Admission is $8.00 for the fullpackage and $5.00 for regular entrance. I guess the $3.00 was extra... you can enter a small musuem...some interesting facts about how the canal was built, the wildlife, the importance to trade... on the top floor (4 stories high)... more
