Stayed there December 2006. The island - and Aitutaki lagoon -are as beautiful as other reviewers say. But staying there in the beach bach is seriously disappointing. The generator and fridge referred to in a previous review, have been removed, and the owner didn't bother to check the gas bottle, which ran out after just boiling water for coffee, so... more

Actually, I shouldn't be writing this review, mainly because there will be more attention to the possibility of staying in this part of paradise, but then again - this is a place that despite its very simple setting deserves to be mentioned. The most incredible island i have ever visited without a doubt. Beautiful blue waters, great snorkelling (especially around the old flying boat platform) and nothing to do but relax and soak up the beauty of the place. While staying on the island of Aitutaki, in the Cooks you MUST go on a lagoon cruise out to One Foot Island. The most amazing water in the entire South Pacific! I've traveled to Tahiti and Fiji...and nothing compares to the white sand and blue water that you will see in the lagoons of Aitutaki! more
