I drove from North to South through the canyon on 89A. Before descending into the canyon there is a nice lookout point. There are many Native American stands there selling wares, but it was nice...not cheesy. After enjoying the view from above, I was looking forward to getting down to it. The drive was very beautiful, but most of the... more

There is no question that Oak Creek and Sedona are some of the most beautiful destinations in the US. However, in the past year, because of road construction and development many of the attractions in this area are much harder to see and access. Many of the parking pull-offs that were available in the past have been removed. It is... more

I'm a little surprised that so many people have such a high rating for Oak Creek Canyon and the Sedona area. While we did find the drive and the scenery beautiful, the fees and parking issues were a nightmare. We stayed at a one of the campgrounds a few miles north of Sedona. We quickly found out that we needed... more

Beautiful! We drove through Oak Creek Canyon on our way to the Grand Canyon and wished we would have had more time. The drive is fairly short, it only took us about an hour (with a few stops) to drive from Sedona to Flagstaff but the scenery was breathtaking. We passed lots of little campgrounds and cabins that looked like... more

We drove thru the canyon on our way to Sedona, after leaving GCNP. We were surprised at how verdant it was. We stopped at a few overlooks, and it is very pretty. I am sure when the water is running higher, it must be great fun for locals to be able to just run up there and tube, fish, kayak,... more

I have traveled to many places, Sedona was the best and most beautiful place I have encountered. Holy Cross Cathedral I can only describe as Heaven. I'm blessed to have gone there. more

I stayed here twice, at Don Hoel's cabins, and am sad to say Don's closed in November. But if you can stay in Oak Creek Canyon, do. There are incredible walks through pioneer time farm relics and moving native sites. I think Hopi? My nephew found an arrow head in a beautiful rocky, secluded spot. I asked him what he... more

I will never forget this experience. Nature at its best! In Nov 1999, me and my friend had left grand canyon and decided to drive out east, we had not done any homework on this part of US as we were touring along the west coast so imagine our sheer delight, shock and amazement when we left the desert to... more

One of my major regrets was not spending more time in Oak Creek Canyon. I drove through once on the way to the Grand Canyon and again when I returned to Sedona. The views were stupendous, and all the more enjoyable because I wasn't really expecting them. ( By the way, Highway 89A between Prescott and Flagstaff turned out to... more

A very enjoyable drive from Sedona to Flgastaff or vice versa. The road gradually climbs the canyon, as you head towards Flagstaff with impressive views. The $5 daily parking fee seems a bit steep. Try stopping at the Garland's Indian Garden Market for the hot or cold apple juice. It was just the trick on a cold winter's day. It's... more
