There are six areas within the arts and crafts village (A-E), with lots of unique little shops, galleries, and restaurants. Tlaquepaque is akin to the fantasy malls of Vegas (the Forum Shops, the Venetian Shops, etc,)--------the individual stores within the mall have false facades with a unified architectural theme. I thought the physical setting was just beautiful. The sycamore trees are exceptional, the gardens/fountains/flowers baskets/lighting and Mexican theme are wonderful. I liked the layout with the different courtyards, connecting halls/passageways. The little white lights on the trees, in the trees and other places gives a great touch. We stopped by there on our way home. I agree with what the other reviewers said that it was just a shopping center with a Mexican facade. It was meant to look like a Mexican village, but it bordered on being too cute. Other than it being very difficult to park there, nothing in there really stood out. more

I loved this little shopping village. There is more shade than the downtown shopping area. The architecture is charming with cobblestone walkways and the courtyards are filled with beautiful plants and sculptures. I enjoyed lunch with a friend on the patio at Rene. This is a beautiful place to stop and walk around. They are open late one night a month (first Friday). The shops are lovely and the grounds and artwork are definitely worth a look. more

This place is nice and everything is overpriced so be prepared to just browse. We made the mistake of entering through the resort side of the place and was told we needed to get our ticket validated...a scam! It was a way for the resort to coax you into sitting through their timeshare spiel. Luckily, we didn't take the bait... more
