I am a scientist and from NJ so you would think I would enjoy this museum but after attending many museums in the U.S. I have to admit it is a disappointment. This begins the moment you walk in. They recently enlarged the museum by adding an extension. However this only adds a new entrance and one exhibition room -... more

The Museum's website says: Looking for something that’s not here? That seems to be a very bad joke! “something that’s not there” ??? OH, YES! Politeness towards visitors! In our case: a group of Austrian students. The Museum's website also says: Try our helpful Guest Services staff. We could not find this type of people in the Liberty Science Museum.... more

If you're going here out of a classroom environment, it's not worth the money. There are a few "fun" items for kids and youngsters but they are limited. Many of the "experiments" you can do are in the classroom and the movie is another $8 "imax" advertisement you'd think you might get to see for the price of admission. The... more

Disappointment I have visited the LSC twice since it re-opened after extensive renovation and I visited several times before it. On this latest occasion I was at their camp-in so we spent many hours going through everything in detail. It just doesn’t seem to be well run. While visually interesting, they rely extensively on technological displays (touch screens, etc.) and... more

I went to the Liberty Science Center with my 6 year old and 3 year old sons. We had a great time! We arrived at 9:00 a.m. before the crowds arrived and headed straight for the skyscraper exhibit on the 1st floor (fun for young kids, I'd say under 10 years). The second floor had a science demonstration while we... more

Sorry Liberty Science Center: we wanted to love you, but the relationship is over! What a disappointment. The "renovated" Liberty Science Center was the choice for my son's 14th birthday excursion. Perhaps one of the only things geared to his age group was the cartoon of "Condom Man" and all the information on safe sexual practices. He learned that if... more

Wow -- I love the old LSC but the all new one is so cool. Skyscraper is huge and you can walk on a beam 18 feet off the floor. Infection Connection has a really cool nose with a surprise and there are huge fish from the Hudson River on the top floor. The IMAX is still huge and the... more

Go here if you have kids and they have some discounts / get a free pass or something. For adults, if you are already in technical fields, you have very little that is interesting here. It tries to cover too many things in too little a depth. You might as well spend that money on a visit to an aquarium... more

In March of 2005 we visited Liberty Science Center. Six hours later we could not believe it was already 3:30 p.m. We arrived at 9:30 when they opened, as advised, and were able to experience all of the "hot spots" without the crowds that later flooded the museum. Our group included two adults, an 8 year old and a 10... more

This is a huge science museum that my kids love, esp. the IMAX theater which they say is the largest in the US. It's in Liberty State Park, and you can take the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island right from the park without having to go into Manhattan. Also, if you park at the science center,... more
