The fort commemorates one of the most famous military losses in U.S. history. In 1876, Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer led the 7th Cavalry from Fort Abraham Lincoln into the disastrous Battle of the Little Bighorn. Neither he nor his troops survived. I LOVE this place!! So o my kids (20 yrs and 12 yrs old). The people are SO nice and dress in the "character" they play. The commissary folks are SO nice too. I love the house, and the history is great too. Always a place I go when I am in the area more

Excellent example of re-enactor presentation of history. the "soldiers" help transport you back in time to understand operations of a cavalry post during the Indian Wars and imagine yourself as a visitor to Gen. Custer's home. His house is furnished as if he had just stepped out and there is a soldiers' barracks and mess to explore. the few buildings... more
