The Sun Studio tour was a highlight of our trip to Memphis. It was friendly, intimate, and authentic. Getting here can be a challenge - it is NOT walking distance from Beale street or downtown, although it may seem so on the map. Sun Studio has a free shuttle service from major Memphis attractions - highly recommended! The building is... more
A well informed young lady gave a very informative tour. The place is so small you can't believe the tour would be any good but it was great! Upstairs are some really neat pieces of history including Elvis' actual high school diploma and Social Security Card! Tons of information is provided and is quite interesting. Then you go back down... more
First of all, we took the shuttle from Graceland to Sun Studios. It is hard to find anything free this day and age so we were pleasantly suprised when we learned we could catch a free ride. That was the last time we were ever happy again. I hate to complain about anything free. But my sister and I almost... more
The Sun Studios tour took you through a brief tour of musical history, and it gave you a glimpse of what had happened into those studios. The tour guide was excellent, you could tell that he really knew his musical history and didn't just memorize his spiehl. The highlight of the tour was to visit the unchanged room where many... more
What a fun time! Well, not so much for our kids who are ages 7 and 8. The tour started on time and we were guided into a staging room of sorts where the tour guide told us about all the mementos behind the glass cases. After that informative lecture, he took us over to the actual studio. It's exactly... more
My family and I visited Sun Studio on 4/21 and we loved it! Our tour guide (Forgot her name) was one of the best we've ever had! She was funny and very informative. Everything is original to the way it was in the 50's. It's neat to be in the same room where greats such as Elvis, Johnny Cash, and... more
We arrived at exactly 1:30 for the 1:30 tour (they run every hour on the half-hour), late from the Stax Museum and maneuvering our huge rental van into the narrow alley for parking. The guide ushered us in and let us take the tour without paying for our tickets beforehand! Of course we paid on our way out - I... more
We really enjoyed this tour. Make sure to stand on the x spot where Elvis sang. The pictures are fabulous..so cool of the million dollar quartet (Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and Jerry Lee Lewis). You can even see where they stood in the room for the picture. We used our AAA card and got 20% discount. Loved to hear... more
I have to say that the Sun Studio was the best place I visited in Memphis. I highly recommend that you take this tour. The cost was on $10 and the parking was free. The tour is given by an actual person. The tour guides are well spoken, talented and passionate about the subject. The tour takes you through a... more
