Unbelievable views, great white sand, absolutely amazing beach. We went on a wednesday morning on our way to the Valley of the Temples(Byodo-In Temple) and the Polynesian Cultural Center. It was our second last day on the Island and we really wish we would have visited the beach earlier because we definately would have gone back. The beach is about... more

Kailua Beach is a choice that rarely would be a mistake as it offers so much. For sure any issues that may occur at the time you go will no doubt be compensated in other ways. I was there in late October of 2007 and it was great. It is about a 40 to 60 minute drive from the other... more

When I posted my first review, I hadn't been back to Kailua Beach Park in a year. I went back in July 08 and found a large section of the beach gone from erosion, as Javagirl08 said. It was actually distressing to see, but beach erosion is a natural processes at all beaches. In fact, the erosion is so bad... more

Our family used to live in Hawaii (Kahalu) when my husband was stationed there. We have many fond memories of Kailua Beach. The water was pristine the little islands nearby made a fun kayaking trip. It is sooo pretty. The windward side of the island is my favorite(Kailua Beach is on this side). more

While heading over to Kailua on your way from Waikiki, be sure to stop for a scenic drive along the "Old Pali" road and than take the time to make a stop at the "Pali Lookout" where you will have the opportunity to survey the vast majestic beauty of the Windward side of the island. This is a must see... more

Kailua beach is a calm beach with kayaking and windsurfing opportunities. Usually the waves are small and enjoyable for young children. I've been there before where the waves were actually big enough for decent boogie boarding. In general, it's pretty calm and very enjoyable. Going during the week is more beneficial if you prefer smaller crowds. Sometimes there might be... more

I live here. Kailua Beach has everything good about it...turquoise blue water, powder white sand beach, trade winds to keep it all at 80 degrees, and the sun even sets behind you, so the water shines all the way to sunset. I've been all over the world, and never found a beach as nice. Great, cozy, non-touristy stores and restaurants... more

This was our first trip to Hawaii, April 2008. I had read all the reviews of this beach, but it very much exceeded all my expectations. The water is so calm and warm, perfect for swimming. We spent hours just swimming and playing in the water. The sand is so soft and powdery. There was no crowd, at all. We... more

Kailua Beach Park - we were looking for the calm, sandy beach area but found no beach (rather, a heavily eroded steep area/ledge leading to the water). The waves were so strong it knocked me over. The area is really gorgeous - and the water stunning. A little disappointed we didn't find this calm swimming area that we see in... more

Hubby isn't a big beach person, so we just made brief stops. We did play in the ocean here and found the ocean floor to be pretty sandy so we didn't hurt our feet much. You can rent kayaks and paddle out to the bird sanctuary island - which is supposed to be beautiful. more
