Little Italy was one of the best parts of visiting Boston. It was so cute. And the pastry/candy stores were mouth watering. (Save your calories for the North End.) Walk it; don't try to drive—the streets are old and narrow and congested. Lesson learned: If you come up around 4:30 hoping for an early dinner, know that a number of... more

While walking the Freedom Trail on Tues, July 17, my sister and I wandered off the trail, found Mike’s Pastry and we were in love! (see my review of Mike’s) Our maternal grandmother was 100% Italian, raised by Italian immigrants. While walking the North End, I was reminded of our family picnics as a child. We made a point to... more

Most of the restaurants and bakeries in the North End are small but the smiles you see from everyone after eating there are huge! more

We are forever changed by our trip to Boston, specifically the North End Italian neighborhood. Our first dinner was at Tresca (meaning Intrigue or Love Affair) where we gave ourselves over to the chef's tasting option, although pricey it was worth every penny. The service was unrivaled, the duck divine! Lured back by the prospect of more authentic Italian, we... more

The thing the North End has is character! This includes the culture of the Italian people, American cultural and architectual history, and sublime food. A day to be remembered.I do agree, however, that it would be great if the city could deal with the trash pick up better somehow..but for now, ignore the garbage pick up! Step over it, around... more

Another "must do" while in Boston. Stroll the quaint streets seeing all the historic sights while also experiencing a real neighborhood (with an Italian flavor) including great restaurants and some of the best cannoli. more

What a fun day to bum around, check out the shops, eat cannolis and drink coffee. Hanover street is bustling in the evening for dinner and coffee. more

While visiting Boston me and my boyfriend walked the Freedom Trail. While walking this trail you end up walking through the North End of Boston. I was very impressed!! Italian restaurants everywhere! Some of the streets were very narrow with cobblestone streets which was very unique. We didn't eat at any of the restaurants and I wish now that we... more

Be sure to take a walk thru the North End while visiting Boston (off the Freedom Trail by Paul Revere's house)... you'll hear lots of Italian along with some great Italian-American-Bostonian accents! We visited on a Saturday & were happy to find a festival (Fisherman's Feast) in progress. Great cannoli, pasta, pizza, etc.-- not to mention fun people-watching! more

In response to the comments about the North End being dirty, I'd have to back up the poster who explained about the trash pickup. Being that the apartments are small and there's no where to put trash, we have trash pickup three days per week. You should come back on a weekend! Having lived in Boston for going on six... more
