Although The Breakers is the grandest and certainly the most popular of the Newport Mansions, our tour here was not as satisfying as the tours of the other Newport Preservation Society properties. We toured here at 10AM on the first Saturday of October, and it was crowded even then. I can hardly imagine what it must be like at the... more

Great to see that the Preservation Society is keeping these Grand Old Homes in tip top shape. Buy the tickets on line ($31.00 each ) and you are able to choose which five of the large manions in Newport you wish to tour. Tickets can be sent right to your home. There is so much to see and take in... more

Wow, talk about a Mansion! Absolutely beautiful.. We arrived right on time for the visit, I do not recall our guide's name, but she was very nice and did not sound like a robot so that made it more interesting. As it is September, we were a small group and it did not feel too crowded in the rooms (They... more

Save your money. Not worth the expense to see how bored these rich people were and to what extent they thought they were royalty in America. Go for a walk along the warf or have a drink at Castle Hill and watch the sail boats go by. Don't support a supposed "charity" that keeps the tax base super low in... more

It's worth a visit for the architecture with French, Italian and American influences; but expect long lines to get in and tour guides who sound terribly rehearsed. more

The Breakers was a fantastic, opulent place to visit with such grandeur it left us with our mouths gaping open on a number of occasions. However, our tour guide is most notable of our entire visit - a little old lady called Eleanor. If you do go there, try to get on her tour, as it was the most enchaning... more

Talk about a beautiful home. It is amazing to see this seaside home with its magestic views and location. This is the most impressive and must see of all the Newport mansions. I would recommend seeing this to anyone in the area. Absolutely amazing! Get the 5 mansion pass and see them all for one fee over a couple of... more

I enjoy all of the mansions in Newport, but this one imparticular is just ridiculously large. Just when you walk into the foyer you are speechless. Their foyer is the size of most people's homes. It is just amazing to be able to tour this mansion and see what these people called home. Actually they called it there summer home... more

The Breakers is the best known of the Newport cottages largely because it is the largest and most ostentatious. Its $20 a person to get in and by noon (they open at 9) there is a 30-45 min wait to get in. You can’t take pictures inside and the tour is about 45 mins long. The tour guide was very... more
