Homeikan has three buldings in the area. These are old japanese style woodbuildings. The rooms are with tatami-mats and a low table, but no other furniture. In the evening the staff puts a futon in the room to sleep on. The buildings are really really beautiful. The gardens as well. Toilets and baths are shared. That works pretty well. However... more

My husband, son, and I stayed at two of Homeikan's houses in July 2008. First, we stayed at Daimachi Bekkan for three days, then we stayed at Honkan for one day because Daimachi Bekkan was closed for inspection. Homeikan was one of four places we stayed during our trip to Japan, and it was the highlight of the trip! The... more

This ryokan was an excellent value and a wonderful place to stay! We were in one of the annexes, and although the main building looked like it was older with much better atmosphere, it was still well worth it! The room and building was clean and basic, and served our needs well. I liked the quiet residential neighborhood it was... more

I thouroughly recommend the Homeiken as it is true experience of Japan with tatame mats, robes, slippers, green tea & the garden is amazing to view. Located in a quiet neighbourhood the homeiken is situated close to the subway, lots of restaurants with many styles of food. We tried our Japanese but we were welcomed with English (though we used... more

This is a 100 years old Japanese guesthouse, with still all the enchant and the style of the traditional accommodation in Tokyo. Good location and evaluable deal, even if not that cheap, and please review all the small details that could hurt you if you're not used to Jap-style living. THE ZONE: well situated in the Hongo district, at 10 minutes... more

The first place we stayed when we travelled to Japan - perfect 'introduction' to Japanese Ryokans . Great if you wanting to experience traditional Japanese ryokans but unsure - particullarly regarding etiquette. Clean and beautiful, rooms are separated well so feels nice and private . Hosts were excellent and very helpful - good english. Excellent location - walking distance to... more

My fiance and I stayed at this Ryokan for 4 nights as a base to explore Tokyo. Everything about this place was traditionally Japanese - the building (along with serene garden), the room and furnishings, and the food. Everything was of good quality, and the staff, although they could not speak much english, were friendly and helpful. They have a... more

My husband and I stayed here for three days. It was in a convenient area. The best about this place were its hot tub and nice breakfast. The room and the place in general, however, felt a bit dingy (needs some updating) - the common bathroom area was a bit small. They need to update their internet connection service. They... more

When I travelled to my number one destination of Japan with my pre-tertiary Japanese class, I had high expectations for this ryokan. As it was my first visit to Japan, I had hoped that it would be the greatest experience in a traditional setting. In fact, all my expectations were met, and also were far surpassed! Even though our group... more

Stayed here for 5 days at one of their three properties. The location is on a small street back from the main streets around the Tokyo Dome shopping mall. The rooms are traditional with neat hallways with pebbled floor. Has the rustic rundown Japanese feel. Owner was very helpful, and gracious. There seemed to be several school groups staying, but... more
