The hotel is in an amazing spot. Walk out the front door and a dozen or so steps and you are on the rim of the Grand Canyon. How wonderful is that? I need to state here that we did research this thoroughly on trip adivsor and other sites before booking. It is just a pity that the general service... more

My husband and I stayed at the El tovar after we got married on the rim of the Grand Canyon in March. Hotel was very accomodating and helpful with various requests and arrangments. We weren't able to check into our room until 4pm. This was okay though because they have a beautiful lounge (a little pricy) with a wrap around... more

El Tovar is a lovely traditional wooden structure hotel that has the look and feel of a luxury hotel. The staff are very friendly. As I was waiting to check in on August 12, 2008, a fire alarm sounded and the hotel had to be evacuated for about 30 minutes. The receptionist responsible for preventing people from entering through the... more

El Tovar is a wonderful place to stay and I would thoroughly recommend it - seeing the sun rise and set outside the hotel is an amazing experience. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and was pleasantly surprised - good food and service. I would stay here again - but for longer next time! more

We stayed in the El Tovar suite for three nights which we booked a YEAR earlier! There are only four rooms that have truly glorius views of the canyon AND large patios: the El Tovar Suite (3rd floor) the Presidential Suite (3rd), the Mary Jane Coulter Suite(2nd floor) and the Fred Harvey Suite (2nd). Third floor balconies are HUGE and... more

I booked my room here over a year before (7/07)after reading all the reviews posted here. Yes, it was a real splurge for my wife and myself but it was our 27th anniversary and my wife needed a diversion from fighting her breast cancer. So I reserved the Fred Harvey suite for three nights for about $400 per night. Boy... more

Both myself and my wife stayed 3 nights at the El tovar end of july, The hotel is superbly presented, the rooms are clean, food excellent , and the staff ever so friendly and efficient. Located directly on the rim of the canyon allows guests to maximise their time experiencing the spectacular views the canyon offers from dawn till dusk......... more

It was a great experience staying at El Tovar right at the South rim for our first trip to Grand Canyon. El Tovar is centrally located right at the rim and it is a great experience for first time to GC. We stayed for 2 nights. Nothing beats staying at the rim!! There is a lot to see and I... more

This is a fairly smart, luxury lodge overlooking the Grand Canyon. We had a fanastic room overlooking the Canyon. The cost was not but what I expected. The room was large & had all the usual factiities. The restaurants were all quiet pricey so we went to Angel Lodge (within walking distance) for breakfast & dinner. Note: Park up early... more

When we arrived at the El Tovar, a porter offered to unload our car and take our bags up to our rooms. He arrived just after us, very red in the face as there is no elevator! We stayed in rooms at the top of the hotel - fairly small, but nicely furnished. the main problem was the air conditioning... more
