Of course everyone enjoys a 4 star in Cuba but if you want good food you stay home. In my case It would have cost me less to go there for a week otherwise I admit I would not have gone. Great people, but if you are single you must go into Guanabo city too. Anyone else going in that... more

We just returned from 4 nights at the Tropicoco Hotel which we thoroughly enjoyed however this hotel would not be suitable for everyone. Tropicoco would be rated a 2-3 star by North American standards. Like much of Cuba, the building could use updating and a fresh paint job. While the architecture is somewhat institutional we really liked the open design... more

I have had the pleasure of staying at the Tropicoco twice now, both in 2007 and 2008 and it has become my home in Cuba. The location is perfect, the view from my room #615 was what you dream of when you dream of Cuba. The shuttle bus into Havana makes it very convenient to spend time in the capital.... more

I had a chance of staying at Tropicoco for 7 nights all inclusive package deal. The bottom line is that this place should get MINUS 10 STARS. What I paid for this hotel and in return what I got was a piece of crap services. I had to change the room five times and the last room was the most... more

Hotel Tropicoco is 1/2 hr. from Havana w/regular bus shuttle 2x daily, booked day before. It is across the street from a lovely beach but watch out for large foot - foot 1/2 long jelly fish of dark color that R on the beach and sometimes in the water in the A>M. Most times you can swim in the ocean... more

I spent 10 days at the Hotel Tropicoco, while my parents stayed for 3 weeks. We agree with many of the other favourable reviews that indicate the Tropicoco is an average, relatively-clean Cuban resort that offers good value for money. Rather than reiterate the same points as everyone else, we've decided to simply list some pros and cons. Pros: -... more

When we got back from the Hotel Tropicoco I expected to write a review that would refute all the horrible things we read about this place just before we left (book now, then read the reviews later, seems to be our motto). But I found that Sir Hilary and funonthecheap have beaten me to it. Guessgirl22 is a little over-the-top... more

We went to Tropicoco for two weeks from Dec.19-Jan.2/07. Agree wholeheartedly with Sir Hilary's review but would like to reflect on our own experience also. The take-home message is this: Tropicoco is NOT the place for you if you expect to have Westernized servers anticipating your every need, obsessively sterile cleanliness, and gourmet Western food. This is a two-star hotel,... more

When I first started looking, you could get a an all-inclusive 7-day package for $200. I hesitated for a week and ended up paying $300. That's still pretty cheap! I would not pay more than that. I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and they diverged wildly from ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE to I HAD A WONDERFUL TIME. I wondered how people... more

Where to start? Much of the nightmare has been repressed but I'll try to convey what I can. Firstly, the food! OK, I realize it is a two star resort and I also realize that Cuba is not known for quality food, but are you kidding me? They serve what amounts to be warm "KoolAid" or "Tang" most mornings instead... more
