I just returned to Boston from my first real vacation in Haiti. Prior to this trip, I had spent 1-day in Labadee while travelling on a RCL cruise (Labadee is a privatized beach/tourists area run by RCL) . My husband, who is originally from Cap Haitien, suggested spending a week in Haiti and though I possess minimal 'Creole Skills' (honestly,... more

I stayed at the Rio Christophe for two weeks in October. It is a beautiful old building in nice walled gardens. It is an old mansion built by Cristophe to live in while the Citadel was being constructed, then the Du Ponts owned it. So it was protected as the rest of the city sank into squalor. (all this is... more

This was my first trip to Haiti, in June 2005. I have not stayed at any other hotel in Haiti. I stayed at this hotel on 2 nights in different rooms, and was able to visit a suite also. This is a good hotel. There are rooms available with air conditioning or just a ceiling fan. The suites are big.... more

It was so beautiful until I got to the room. This was just average. The TV didn't work and the cost for the room was $69. My interpreter stayed with me so when I checked out they told me the cost would be $83. So the $50 you see here is not right. more

This hotel transcends the charm and beauty of what the city of Cap-Haitian has to offer. It depicts the exuberant tropical nature of this northern coastal paradise. As a native CAPOIS, I grew up admiring its pituresque portrait, journeyed for two weeks in one of its very formidable square rooms. Now despite having been acustomed to hollywood style hotels in... more

It's a beautiful paradize, good service, nice room, a great pool. It's near the sea, it's just the best in Cap haitien. I've been there on the summer 2003. The people are realy nice and charming. more

Who's kidding each other, all these glowing reviews for Hotels with the exception of one in the midst of the worst poverty your ever going to face as an American. I have travelled to Haiti twice in the last 15 years and each time its been more chaotic, poorer and Dangerous than any review listed here can possibly show. Be... more

Agree with the comment "the food is ALWAYS great" Stayed during the summer and again in Oct. 2003. (Have been visiting regularly for the last 6 years) Thanks to a wonderful waiting staff, restaurant dining is always enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable - Haiti is just amazing and Cap Haitian has such history. Roi Christophe is part of that and... more
