We stayed at the Hotel L'Esplanade in June of 2008, and it was everything we read about plus some! After a long flight from the West Coast to St. Martin, we were ready to either 1. drink lots of alcohol or 2. go swimming! Though I wasn't a huge fan of Grand Case, this hotel was fantastic. Very well decorated, with great service. More of a vacation condo than hotel, with well equiped kitchen, etc. I'd stay there again! more

This is a great hotel, that far exceeded our expectations. The hotel arranged our car rental for us (car rental is an absolute necessity to exploring the island), and a taxi met us free of charge at the airport. Bottom line, for the seasoned Caribbean traveller, this hotel is great... bar none...the island is depressed, the beaches over rated...the food GREAT. I'd forgo the great food for a great stretch of beach and non-run down town area. Too bad this hotel isn't on another island...I'd return over and over.
