I fully concur with the previous reviewers who give the Ancira a 5 star rating. This is a superb hotel, with very good staff; and an absolute gem of a building. It is in a good area of town, near the Macroplaza and the museum and cathedral, shopping just a block away and plenty of restaurants and a few bars.... more

I accompanied my husband on a business trip to Monterrey. We booked reservations for the Gran Ancira last minute using suggestions from Trip Advisor when our reservations at another hotel fell through. We were very happy with our stay at the Gran Ancira. We were traveling with our 5-year old daughter and my husband’s colleague. The staff was very nice... more

(This is no longer a Radisson) Rooms are dominated by a large bed with not a lot of room for much else. Service is a bit sporadic and slow but generally without major problems. The gym is a definate plus with newer treadmills and cross trainers. Outside pool is rather small. The area around is dominated by a number of... more

We stayed here as part of a tour package and absolutely loved it. The location has got to be the best in Monterrey for tourists. On one side is a pedestrian mall area. Steps away are wonderful art museums, the catherdral, the plaza, and a wonderful old neighborhood with cobblestone streets. The food at the hotel was GREAT! Be sure... more

I have stayed here for many times, as my secretary books the hotel (maybe because it is the only one she knows in Monterrey). Despite the grandeur of the architecture and common areas and the good food service, the rooms are very outdated, noisy and require immediate attention from Radisson because the furniture is dated and worn out, there is... more

I reserved a few rooms at the Gran Ancira, site unseen, for a long weekend for about 10 people. I'd say the reviews were pretty accurate; while not first-class, we really enjoyed the charm of the older hotel & its staff. Accomodations (bathrooms, beds, linens, etc.) were more than suitable, just not 5 star. Location was great for sight seeing... more

How can you complain about a hotel this beautiful with one the most awesome BUFFET BREAKFASTS in the world?! I hated having to take a 7 AM flight out because it meant missing one more...A wonderful chef cooking omelets and breakfast quesadillas with all the gourmet Mexican delights (huitlacoche, zucchini blossoms), breakfast chlliquillis, great juices...And besides all of that, free... more

I stayed here in 2005 during spring break. I booked two hotels. One fancy and a regular cheap hotel. I was attracted Radisson Gran Ancira Plaza because of the old grand hotel vibe plus I got a deal on our room. The building is beautiful and the entrance is stunning. As you as walk in you're greeted with a huge... more

After having stayed in the Quinta Real on my previous 5 visits, the contrast could not have been starker! But considering the rates were even higher than Quinta's I really expected better. For starters the room is small, poky and run down, the bathroom is so small they had to fit one of those ridiculous half-tubs (compared to Jacuzzi style... more

After reading some of the reviews posted here I was somewhat nervous about booking this hotel, but the fact that it was part of the Radisson chain did offer some comfort. It turns out all my fears were unfounded. I really enjoyed my short stay at this property. It has a very good downtown location. It is very close to... more
