This was quite an excellent place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the accommodations always clean, crisp and excellent. You can book tours in-house and the location is central. A walk to the zocalo is a quick few blocks (close enough to be brief but not so near that the noise keeps you up!). There is frequent live... more

This is a great hotel. We had interior rooms on a quiet courtyard. The food was great, the staff was more than great, our rooms were clean and spacious. The staff at the front desk took the time to remember who we were and what we ere about on a daily basis, which was impressive. The flowers were in bloom... more

We stayed for 3 nights in March 2008 and paid $225/night on Expedia--the best deal we could find for an interior room in this hotel. This hotel is really, really special. If you love beautiful, old, authentic buildings that are completely liveable, this is the place for you. Everything in this hotel...the rooms, the public areas, the pool, absolutely everything,... more

The Camino Real deserves its reputation as a great historic hotel. The public areas and the courtyards are really lovely. I particularly liked the pool area, although the pool itself is shallow the lush garden around it is beautiful. If you do go get an interior room. We stayed in an exterior room on the ground floor. Not the best... more

An outstanding world class hotel. It is a former convent, converted to a hotel in recent years. The location is perfect, between Santo Domingo and the Zocalo. The staff are outstanding and the food is excellent. Two sides of the hotel face over pedestrian precinct. The other two sides are over the road, busy with traffic. So ensure that you... more

Yes this is the most pricy hotel in Oaxaca, there is no doubt about that. But the hotel is lovely and the service standards are very high. Room was spanking clean each day, staff friendly and helpful. Pool is great for kids of all ages. There is some street noise in the guestrooms, but guess what… the hotel is in... more

We spent the first half of our honeymoon at the Camino Real in Oaxaca, and it was absolutely wonderful. The hotel is a gorgeous oasis in the heart of the city, and surprisingly large - I don't recall how many couryards there are but it makes for a lovely place to stroll around. My husband and I stayed in one... more

My family and I visited Oaxaxa in June of 2006 and stayed 3 nights at the Camino Real. This is a beautiful old building. There is charm everywhere you look. The restaurant has a fabulous setting and it opens into a charming garden. The staff is great, our room/suite was magnificent and I will go back again any time. more
