My family and I visited Oaxaxa in June of 2006 and stayed 3 nights at the Camino Real. This is a beautiful old building. There is charm everywhere you look. The restaurant has a fabulous setting and it opens into a charming garden. The staff is great, our room/suite was magnificent and I will go back again any time. more

Beautiful building to spend a few days in, but our room was small and cluttered, shower was very week and very small. Didn't feel it was value for money. Only had the breakfast but this was so poor we didn't eat there again, instead ate at some of the excellent restaurants in the city, eg. casa oaxaca. more

We staying in this hotel during a recent trip to Oaxaca. The hotel is about 4 or 5 blocks to the zocalo, which is the heart of all activities in the area. We had a map of Oaxaca that showed a 5 de Mayo street at a different location than where our hotel was located. We chose an exterior room... more

while i usually stay at much less expensive hotels, i thought i would splurge and stay at the camno real. I was there for nine days so it was a substantial stay and investment. i did not regret it! having read the other reviews i was a bit nervous about noise, room size and the beds. first let me say... more

We have just returned from a 12 day stay at the Camino Real, and just loved it. LOCATION: The location is on a pedestrian only street. It is mid way between the Zocalo and the Cultural Center. There is also a little plaza around the corner. There are numberous excellent shops and restaurants within a five minute walk. In short,... more

Hands down, this has got to be the most beautiful hotel in Oaxaca. Beautiful architecture, and the grounds are amazing. The paintings are hauntingly beautiful. Service is excellent. We had an upstairs room facing the street. Although I noticed others didnt particularly care for the rooms facing the street, we didnt have any problems. There were a few early morning... more

We liked this place very much. It's a bit unusual--a full service luxury hotel squeezed into a historic convent. The result departs a bit from the standard-issue luxury hotel experience. The rooms are small (they were built to house nuns, not gringos!) and most rooms open onto patios. The rooms aren't hermetically sealed, so some noise from activity in the... more

If you visit Oaxaca this is really the only place to stay. Our room was wonderful, with views of a beautiful inner courtyard. The furniture and ceiling were all dark, really rich wood and the stone floor was enchanting. The food was decent - breakfast came with our meal and it was a full buffet with many mexican and american... more

The people in Mexico are nice in most places, but the bell men here, really are super charming! (Mr. Delfino and Mr. Justino deserve awards.) The restaurant staff are eager to please. They made me coffee to go, better than Starbuck,s one morning I was running late, which was sweet. The Camino Real is beautiful. I was kind of scared... more

Loved the Camino Real and can´t imagine visiting Oaxaca and staying anywhere else. Location is superb (city center, you can walk anywhere), the hotel is set on beautiful grounds and is extremely well maintained. Breakfast is great and service is impecable. The rooms are beautifully decorated - although on the small side (also, there is no privacy as the partition... more
