First point - the troubles experienced in Oaxaca City in mid 2006 are long over - things have been peaceful since Day of the Dead 2006 (1st November). The Casantica has great potential -- but do everything you can to avoid getting a room next to the main road. Despite booking a presidential suite (as a splurge), we were given a room overlooking the Calle de Morelos. The windows don't fit and the noise is quite extraordinary. more
