My son and I went to Oaxaca for the Guelaguetza in July and stayed at Pilar Cabrera's delightful B&B, Casa de Los Sabores. Not only does the house have charm, our room (Jazmin) was extremely comfortable and there was a small lounge with a library and free Internet access. Pilar was helpful in giving us advice about our stay in... more

I had the pleasure of staying at Casa de los Sabores during my week in Oaxaca at the end of July, 2007. Being centrally located allowed me to walk easily to multiple attractions. The breakfasts were the highlight of the day and the rooftop patio was a great place to relax and take in the views of the neighborhood. The... more

I have traveled quite extensively over the world, and this was one of the most pleasant stays of my life. Too bad that we (my husband and two other friends) were able to stay only 2 nights. The owner is a renowned cook who knows all the secrets of Mexican and local cuisine, such as mole negro and owns a... more

Oaxaca is our favorite city in Mexico and Casa de los Sabores where we stayed for 10 days was the perfect home away from home. The location is convenient. The rooms are large and spotless with high ceilings and skylights in both the freshly painted room and remodeled bathrooms. Each room is decorated with original, local fine art. One especially... more

We heard about La Casa de los Sabores from the director of a small local travel agency serving artists and artisans. Their groups have stayed there for several years. We booked a room during midwinter of 2006 and were not disappointed. The room was spare but clean and decorated with hand-wover hangings and pillows, and each room had a private... more

We stayed here last March for about a week. The rooms are nice, and the breakfasts are outstanding. We had different items each morning, all with a local flavor. I agree with some others that one annoyance was the toilet. I ignored the request to put the used toilet paper in the trash can. Sometimes you had to flush several... more

The decor of the rooms was nice & quaint and I really enjoyed the rooftop terrace. We were a little disappointed by the food, we had better at several places outside of the B&B. What really annoyed me, though, was the bathroom. I was able to ignore the funny smell coming from the sink and the row of ants constantly... more

We arrived at the Casa de los Sabores late at night after a v long flight and liked it immediately. It seemed very authentically Mexican with a little flower-filled courtyard, tiled floors, local artwork and a huge bed. We had the Jazmin room, the only one on the first floor, next to a beautiful sunny terrace with views over the... more

The best thing about this place is the breakfast presentation. The table decorations change each day, but are always beautiful. The food is excellent and lovingly presented. I also enjoyed sitting down at a long table with other travelers and getting to know them. Disadvantages: our bathroom frequently smelled like sewer gas. I don't know if it was just our... more

The breakfasts were the best I have had on any trip. They also run a cooking school here and it shows. The breakfast was unique each day and featured fresh squeezed juices, homecooked breads, yogurt & granola, fruits and an elegant main dish. There was a roof top patio to relax on at the end of the day. Rooms were... more
