We Stayed for a week in Cancun last July. We found Xbalamque Hotel in the Internet while hunting for deals. (We were traveling on a budget). The pictures of the hotel looked fine and the price was right so we chose to stay there. My husband and I were traveling with our two boys and wanted to visit the archaeological... more

I recently stayed at Xbalamque, in face I got back 3 days ago. Upon our arrival we were very tired having travelled 25 hours to be there, we were offered no help with our baggage (which wasn't useful as the lift wasn't working and we were on 2nd floor). There was no check of ID or passport which didn't make... more

I arrived on April 21st being my third trip to Cancun this year. I´ve stayed in most of the hotels downtown because of my work and I wanted to write a quick note about Xbalamque Hotel. Most hotels in downtown Cancun offer just basic accomodations and you have to get out of the hotel if you want to find BASIC... more

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night booked through Hotwire. I would say Hotel was fine for the money if you know what you are buying, a bad deal through Hotwire. If you booked through Hotwire as a 3.5 star resort hotel you are in for suprise. Hotel is downtown, not any where near the beach... more

My wife and kids just came back from a short 3 day holiday in Cancun and wanted to share some useful tips for those of you traveling to Cancun on a budget. Our stay at Xbalamque: I booked the hotel though Hotwire so we didn´t know which hotel we were going to stay at. Hotwire won´t disclose the hotel name... more

Same story with us as many others have already stated. This is for those who want the true Mexican, downtown living experience. More like adventure travel. This hotel felt clean and safe enough to stay at, however, I would have preferred a Super 8. The first red flag was when I was handed a key at check in. The doors... more

I booked this hotel through Hotwire. It was advertised as a 3.5 star Resort hotel. Please be aware, this is much closer to a 1.5 star hotel. Hotwire customers do not get the free breakfast. There is no elevator, there's a fake elevator door where it should be, but there has never been an elevator on this property and they... more

Went to great lengths to reserve a room in advance for New Year's Eve in downtown Cancun. Used hotel website to reserve in October and did not get a response. Emailed them and obtained confirmation in Spanish and then telephoned them, too to reconfirm in November. I printed off the email confirmation and upon check in was told that they... more

I booked the hotel last minute and apparently these people have special low budget rooms for people who book through Hotwire. Broken shower drains, holes in the wall, paint splashed on the windows, beds like sleeping on plywood and absolutely no hot water for showering. This was the case in both rooms I booked. The next morning we were refused... more
