I stayed one night at the Mayaland with my two teenaged boys, strictly for the purpose of touring Chichen Itza. For our purposes, this hotel fit the bill perfectly. We were upgraded to a bungalow, which was very nice. The hotel is a jungle like setting, far removed from the beach atmosphere of the coast. It was very beautiful. As... more
This is a nice hotel set with a great view of one of the temples. We stayed in the hotel itself, rather than one of the bungalows, and were entirely happy about that choice. It is very close to the park and in a pleasant location. However, it is ferociously expensive, particularly for eating at night. Perhaps we made a... more
Location location location...the ruins are literally right behind this hotel. You can get up, have breakfast and walk 100 yards to the ruins before all the other tourists get there. The grounds were gorgeous, rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. I have not one complaint. more
The billboards on the toll road between Cancun and Chichen Itza for Mayaland are headlined "World Class Jungle Resort". When I think "World Class Jungle Resort" I think the Four Seasons Costa Rica or the nearby Rosewood Mayakoba in the mangroves. This is not either of those. Not even close. We had a fantastic stay at the Mayaland. The hotel was a very nice surprise. As we made the drive from Cancun to Piste and Chichen Itza, we were not sure what to expect, and to be honest, did not have high expectations. As we pulled into the Mayaland grounds, we still were not sure. But as we were given... more
My friend and I stayed here for one night to see the light show at Chichen Itza and tour the ruins the next day. It was so conveniently located right behind the ruins. Driving into the property, we were amazed at the lush greenery around and the charm of the property. We parked our car in the lot behind the... more
We stayed on the Mayaland on May, 2008. Our plan was to stay one night at the Mayaland and do the ruins early in the morning, with fewer tourist and less intense heat. We are a family of four (with 2 little children, 2 and 5) and booked a superior room through their website. Note that while booking through their... more
Last year we spent one nite at the Mayaland hotel. The grounds were awsome... the hotel room was fine but not great...the hotels' proximity to the ruins unbeatable...food fine...service fine...price great...I would go back in a NY minute. We arrived by car from Merida at about 3:00PM. The car park is in the rear or the complex. We were greeted... more
This placed lived up to all my expectations. It's right next to the ruins, just a few minutes walk away. The bungalows are in excellent condition and very well kept. We only stayed their one niht andwish we could have stayed more. There are several pools at this resort and I suggest to stay away from the main pool because... more
