We absolutely loved this place!!! If only every hotel could be as cool and chilled..... Room was big and spacious - as was the bathroom. There was a great big hammock that you could hang just under the fan (though I tried to pretend to my fiance that it was really uncomfortable). The owners are really cool and a nice... more

My wife Jade and I initially booked the hotel for 1 night, but we loved the hotel so much that we stayed for four. When we first arrived there, I wasn't impressed by the unassuming entrance, but as soon as we stepped inside, the place felt like a welcoming home, tastefully decorated, marble and nice courtyard/garden. $60 dollar per night... more

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Luz En Yucatan. It was a beautiful place and the area around the pool was magnificent. I liked the Casita where I stayed. It was well priced especially since it came with two bedrooms and a balcony. Even though there was no air conditioning the fans helped to cool down the room and... more

We take our winters and travel around Mexico. We have stayed in plenty of hotels, motels and resorts. Luz en Yucatan has been the best, the staff were great and extremely helpful, all the rooms were unique and very clean, the pool was private and very relaxing, there were welcome beers in the fridge upon arrival as well as a... more

We arrived in Merida by bus from Cancun and took a taxi (30 pesos) to the Inn. Upon arrival you have to be buzzed in off the street. The hotel used to be a nunnery and you can tell when you enter. This is not the hotel for someone who is used to ultra modern amenities or five star luxury.... more

During our travels through Mexico we made a last minute decision to visit Merida. Thanks to the positive reviews on tripadvisor we chose Luz en Yucatan. Even though we didn't have a reservation, Tom welcomed us in and found a way to get us a room for two nights--we would have loved to stay longer but they were, unfortunately, all... more

Luz is an absolutely wonderful and charming little hotel. From the street it looks rather unassuming, but once you open the door you step into a marvelously beautiful, yet relaxed and comfortable oasis. The room was spacious, meticulously clean, and the pool was a pleasant surprise that we looked forward to each afternoon. I would 100% recommend staying here! more

After a grueling bus ride we were greeted by the owner Tom - you must be Sarah - yes yes we were. He´d reserved a room for us after a hasty email sent that morning and we were warmly welcomed to our little paradise in Merida. Two beers on arrival and a complimentary drink cart - just what´s needed after... more

I spent six weeks in Mexico recently, three of them in Merida where I mostly stayed at Luz en Yucatan. It was fabulous and just what I needed after a very stressful year of teaching!! Tom and Donner know how to pamper their guests with all the right touches. Helpful, entertaining staff, interesting guests, fun times! Now that I'll be... more
