We were sooo excited to be on our honeymoon, checked in...everything ok so far because we were excited to be somewhere warm not knowing what awaited us just around the corner.....and then we saw the room that we would be staying in for the next 10 days and everything came to a screeching halt. Not what we expected! The room... more

The Staff was mostly friendly, the grounds were beautiful. The pools were clean. The beach are was intact. The food was mediocre at best.Typical buffet food with lots of repeats. the grill was ok for burgers and hotdogs if you had kids. It was nice to have the pizza place open most of the day. The fountain machine on the... more

We were reluctant to decide on the Allegro Playacar resort based on reviews that we have read. Our main concerns were the quality of the rooms mentioned and the amount of children at the resort. Both were absolutly false. Our room was very nice. Not extravagant, but much better than I would expect for a rated 3-star resort. Also the... more

Our family visited the resort from 7/19 - 7/29. I was very aprehensive about this hotel because of some of the bad reviews but also because I honestly purchased this vacation for an unbelievable price. I only paid $150 per night for all four of us. So, needless to say, I was worried it would be the Roach Motel. We... more

I stayed at Allegro Playacar from July 7 - 12. It was a thoroughly enjoyable vacation. I took the advice of another TripAdvisor reviewer and upgraded to an oceanfront room - a definite must for $20 extra per day. The food was great, the drinks fine, and the location terrific. Yes, there are geotubes in the water - but that... more

This was my first trip to Mexico and I can say that I will not return. Between the hotel totally ignoring us to the language barrier this was the worse vacation I have ever had. We were delayed 15 hours on Monday due to Dolly and did not arrive on resort until 3:30 am. The bus driver did not give... more

The best features of this hotel are its swimming pools, gardens and friendly staff and service. Rooms are spartan with very little storage but kept spotless. They are trying to restore the beach area but in my opinion the beach sucks. If you are a beach lover then try a different area of the Mayan Riviera as the hotels around... more

Well I am always prepared for the worst but in this case nothing could have prepared me ...... The car I arranged for our arrival to Cancun, was late, over an hour late. The driver sped through cancun and was stopped by cops, had to stop for gas, and wasn't very friendly. Upon arrival to the hotel at 330 the... more

Beautiful beach but not so great rooms. Thin walls and uncomfortable beds. Buffet food was less than exciting and sometimes a little on the strange side. The grounds were very well kept and employees such as Javier are outstanding! If you are looking for a nice-quiet romantic place to get away, don't stay here - very noisy and too much... more

We just got home from our stay at the Allegro...what a great resort! This was our third trip to the Riviera Maya area, so we feel we know what we're looking for now in a vacation. The staff was very courteous, any help we needed was given within moments! Our room would be described as "earthy" with tile floors, and... more
