Everything about the Luna Blue was as good or better than we expected. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were very comfortable and clean, the courtyard was beautiful and the location was great. Our favorite part was sitting around the bar at happy hour each night talking to the other visitors and getting fantastic mojitos thanks to Jose.... more
We stayed here based on Tripadvisor reviews, and were not in the least bit disappointed. A very cool, funky hotel on the north (Quieter!)end of 5th avenue, but still within easy walking distance of everything, including one of the better beach areas (Mamitas). Even sitting around the swing bar with Jose (Mucho Mojitos!!) and the other hotel guests was a... more
I am so happy that I found this great, little hotel! Only 18 rooms, but the prices are right! The people that work there are such a great help - especially to someone who had never before been to Playa del Carmen! It's right off of La Quinta which is the pedestrian street filled with restaurants and stores. AND...it is... more
The Good 1. Friendly service. The owners were gone much of our visit but the desk staff was very helpful in suggesting restaurants & telling us about the area. 2. Great location. It is close to the beach – about 2-3 blocks away. (The beach is gorgeous in Playa.) The hotel is located on the end 5th Avenue so it... more
My husband and I stayed at Luna Blue for 10 days for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The first thing that was a pleasant surprise was when I contacted the hotel to make our reservations based upon reviews we had read on tripadvisor.com. In my correspondence I had mentioned this trip was our honeymoon and the same day... more
My husband and I stayed at Luna Blue and loved it. It is a small hotel with lots of charm. The bar was fabulous and Jose was so much fun. Rooms were clean and staff was awesome. There was construction next door but that is to be expected in Playa. (nothing our IPODS couldn't drowned out :) more
Once again, the Luna Blue was the perfect place for us to stay in Playa (May 24 - June 1). The location is in the North End of Playa (aka Little Italy). This trip there were three of us (Me, Hubby, and a friend). We stayed in one of the Deluxe Kitchen Studios (room 6). The room was spotless and... more
Our group of 7 stayed at Luna Blue for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We are all divers and knew we would be too busy to need tv's. We were booked in 3 different classes of room available and all were great value. Plenty of space, good a/c, lots of warm water and towels, bottled water in all... more
My wife and I booked 6 nights here based on the good reviews on tripadvisor, and we weren't dissappointed. Nice, clean, quiet, & chilled retreat from the buzz (& humidity) of Playa. Nothing luxurious, but well presented & excellent value. The management and staff were very helpful with local info, and Tony pointed us in the direction of some great... more
