I just arrived in the hotel and I knew from the owners that they had just re-opened to fit some problems. Barrio Latino is still one of the best spots in Playa. Fram from the noisy Quinta and from the not-so-cool and not-so-trendy discos, you can choose Barrio Latino if you want to look for something special. The Calle Cuatro... more

It is very nice to get this comment, people in Calle 4 and blocks around strongly support Old Playa''s style. You won't find minimal buildings, or too-perfect-to-be-true locations. People of Calle 4 are a mix of local families and people from everywhere in the wolrd (italy, france, germany, ucraine, peru...) who mixed together and try to keep the original flavours...

I booked this hotel online in March, we left credit card details and were sent a confirmation by email. When we got to Playa and found the hotel it was all closed up and the guy who finally answered the door told us that it had closed a month ago. He tried to call the owner, Sara, but no luck,... more

Dear friends, I have really no word to spend. The hotel exists and works great! We had several calls from friends, sellers and clients worried about this review, but please don't worry... we are even celebrating the 11th anniversary!! We are open and receiving bookings like always. Check the web pages you are used to, or come at the desk...

I enjoyed my time at the Hotel Barrio Latino. My room was nice, clean and the courtyard/breakfast area was pleasant. The staff was helpful. But I also had to pay for my room in cash which I was not expecting after providing my credit card info online. It was inconvenient to have to pay in cash and took multiple trips... more

Dear Guest, I am very happy you have been able to enjoy your stay at the Barrio Latino and we hope to have you back as soon as you wish. I even thank you for mentioning the problems you had with the payment, it has been sort of a nightmare to us having the VIsa/MasterCard machine out of order for...

The staff was not as friendly as I was expecting, but overall it was a charming little place. Be aware, streetside it's not much, but inside everything is decorated nicely with lots of atmosphere. The patio garden is beautiful, and we loved the painted touches in the rooms. The hammock was nice too! Breakfast was simple, but I really dont... more

I was prepared to love this place, and at first, we did. The room was cute, the hammock was a nice touch, security was good, and the three dogs lounging around downstairs were such sweethearts. Plus, the location is convenient. Then trouble started on Day 2: they started bugging us to make a full cash payment. I had reserved online... more

Good day to all TripAdvisor surfers,I hope my answer will help you to understand what happened . I am sorry if our client from Washington couldn't enjoy his stay, mostly because of a problem we had to face when charging his credit card (We had another disappointed client who wrote about a difficult charge, but that situation was different; she...

Their website makes clear that a credit card payment in advance is necessary. We booked a room and made payment with a credit card as specified on their website. We recieved confirmation by e-mail. The e-mail made no indication that any other type of payment would be required. When we arrived they requested a driver's license, passport, or other form... more

Dear Lady, I thank you for the sincere comment you sent. I hope all the readers will understand - as you say - that you had all the time of your holidays to solve the problem, and when you did a short call to your housband in the States, he could pay in seconds. NO language barrier, no tecnical problem....

My wife & myself stayed 2 weeks at this smaller, very personable hotel which was conveniently located only 2 1/2 blocks from the beach but still in a quiet area. The owner, his assistant and 5 staff were all very friendly & helpful & provided excellent service. The best part of this hotel was the quiet, relaxed atmosphere and security... more

We stayed there over Christmas of 2007. The hotel contributed to a loverly vacation as it was right next to the playa and the 5th street fiestas. The staff were very friendly and the owner was also around to ensure personalised service. They were knowledgeable about the location and provided good pointers. Availability of wireless in the common areas was... more

Thank you for supporting by your comment ourn efforts to offer a good service. Our neighborhood is keeping the unique something we found when we fall in love with Playa del Carmen, and now that the whole town is growing we feel the responsability to find a balance between modern features and classic style . Thanks again for your review,...

My boyfriend and I randomly ended up at the Barrio Latino one night at the end of a trip to Yucatan in February 2006. When we were going back to get married two years later we chose Barrio Latino to lodge our guests, and we most certainly don't have any regrets! The process of holding rooms was super flexible, which... more

We stayed at Barrio Latino for 5 nights beginning on Christmas day, 2007. We paid $95/night for a room on the ground floor. The room included 2 twin beds pushed together, ceiling fan, in-room safe, bath towels, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, disposable razors, travel pack of Kleenex, and was very clean. The room also had a patio with a hammock. The... more
