I stayed at Rancho Tranquilo for 2 full weeks, and I wish I could have stayed longer. When I get back to Tulum, it will be my first stop. The owner and employees were friendly and generous, and I was very comfortable in my palapa hut. No mosquitos at all. There was sometimes noise from the highway and the bar... more

I don't understand how other people have had a good experience here. We were three people staying in a cabana. The sheets and blankets smelled awful. At night someone next door to the hostel was playing really loud music all evening, and a rooster woke us up each dawn. We booked a tour of Hidden Worlds Cenotes through the hostel... more

we had the best time of our lives here!! we stayed here for seven days and never wanted to leave! it was sooo cozy and the atmosphere is so relaxed and fun! the owner made it even better! he was very accomodating and fun! gave us fresh fruits for our refreshments and even lent us his personal blender and boombox... more

Our family of five liked Rancho Tranquilo very much as it had its own peaceful yard and nice space for kids to play. Personnel was also friendly. We stayed one night in a separate cottage (not cabana) and had to change to room for following nights. If you can get this only separate cottage, take it. It has own patio... more

I have stayed at Rancho Tranquilo for 2 visits in the past year (lucky me!). In April I was staying with someone living locally in very primitive accomodation and after a few days I asked to stay a night somewhere with a bed and running water. My cabana was very basic but a real step up. Really enjoyed visiting with... more

We arrived here just before closing time at 11, after a recommendation from the Weary Traveler, which was full. We are so glad we stayed here. We stayed in Cabana 9, which was $28/night. We didn't have any problems with noise, maybe because our cabana was right next to the main building, not next to the highway, and because we... more

I stayed at Rancho for five nights and had a really fun time. The staff was helpful and sent me to some great places to explore. I also met other travelers who gave me tip on where to stay in Merida which was my next stop. Orginally I was onlt going to stay in Tulum for two nights, but found... more

Beware of staying here...unless you LOVE nonstop Boom Boom music from next door and across the street into the night; mosquito bites all over your body (my room No. 5) had no net and I did not know to ask, but the owners should have known and should have provided the net; traffic, truck, motorcycle noise throughout the night AND... more

We have hundreds of people stay here and they have a great time. Every once in a while you get a guest that you just cannot please. The refund policy is clearly posted in the reception area. The guest refused to use her fan or A/C that was in her room, and I assume that she had the window open...

Buses and trucks rumble past Rancho Tranquilo all night on the major highway that is adjacent to this misleadingly named hotel. If you are stuck staying there, MAYBE rooms that are far away from the highway would be better. more

I stayed at the Rancho for about a week. It was the perfect place to stay to get oriented to the Tulum region and plan my next travel move. The staff were incredibly helpful, going out of their way to get me connected to the people and places I needed to make my trip a joy to remember. The free... more
