The Chateau Laurier is one of the few four star properties where the choice of the room makes all the difference between a fabulous and a frustrating stay. The hotel is in a great location; it's right on the Grande Allee where there are fun restaurants and bars (if you love chocolate, try the chocolate cake at Le Grand Cafe -- it's amazing!). we needed a room with two beds and that was difficult to locate. modern and clean and comfortable and acceptable and nice people, but it's a little of a walk to the older parts of Quebec City. the breakfast is horrible and very expensive, go outside and across the street. more

Expensive!! They even charge you to keep your car in their parking for $20 a day. Ouch! I don't remember the last time I stayed at a hotel and needed to pay for the parking. OUr room was spacious (third floor front), easy to get around, nice concierge, and when I checked out and left money in the room, it was still there hours later when I called back! This place is a shame to the Quebec City tourist industry. Unless you choose to stay in the flashing lobby, you will find better value in many hotels in Quebec City.
